The last of the tour championships took place this week as the LPGA and European PGA Tours wrapped things up for 2014. That means all of the major tours are back on the same year again. Despite what the calendar reads, it’s 2015 in golf.
2014 in the golf world is definitely winding down. The snow birds are flying south to warmer climes and greener fairways. On the PGA TOUR, there are no more FedEx Cup points up for grab until January, though we still have Tiger’s event and the Franklin Templeton Shootout to look forward to. The Champions Tour has the father-son event in December, while the LPGA is off until late January. But never fear, the Euro Tour just keeps plugging along with its South Africa swing in December.
Let’s hit the links.
Hole #1: Meanwhile, On Tour
Both the LPGA and the European Tours awarded handsome purses this weekend. In Naples, Florida, 17-year-old Lydia Ko won the $1 million bonus in the inaugural Race to CME Globe by getting into the three-way playoff of the CME Group Tour Championship. She added an extra $500,000 by winning the playoff. [Link]
Henrik Stenson successfully defended his title at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai with a two-stroke win (-16). It wasn’t a freaky Friday that undid Rory McIlroy (who won the Race to Dubai money), but his back-to-back double bogeys on Saturday could have been the difference between victory and and T-2 finish at 14-under. Hole #2: Poulter’s Putting
Remember that putt Ian missed last week? Well, he went on a rant spawning this thread. But prior to that a Great White Shark offered his help.
I will give you a call @SharkGregNorman. Thanks Poults.

Hole #3: Do Not Try This at Home (or the Course)
Seriously… This can’t possibly be real, but then again, there’s a lot of stupid and lucky people out there. [Link]
Day2 @ TPC Sawgrass and it's a cool 41* which might just be my front 9 score. I think I'm wearing my whole suitcase pic.twitter.com/MFBB1d4GX7

Hole #4: I Can Shoot One of Those
John Hahn shot a 58 in the fourth round of the European Tour Q-School. It was the first time anyone had shot under 60 on the EuroTour. Double caveat, however. First of all, preferred lies (lift, clean, and cheat) was in place for the round, and he backed it up with a 78 in the fifth round and failed to earn his card. Still a 58 in any way, shape, or form is a heck of score. [Link]

Hole #5: The Almost All New Tiger
Tiger has a new swing coach, a new body (sort of), and the same old relationship with the media.

Hole #6: Another Cart to Envy
Last week, we gave you the dragster of the golf cart world. Here’s the limo:

Hole #7: B-b-Bushwood?
“You think I’d join this crummy “snobatorium”? Why, this whole place sucks!” Lighten up, Weston.

Hole #9: Keeping Up with the Dufners
Why hasn’t the Golf Channel launched a reality show starring the Dufners? It’s Jason’s world; we just live in it.
