Hittin' the LinksHello folks, it’s Monday and Hittin’ the Links has returned again with a week full of golf news from the world wide web.

Tiger made sure Jack’s tournament didn’t disappoint! I tell you, nobody finishes like Tiger Woods. Plus, I know I enjoyed the little bonus Wednesday skins game. It’s always nice to get the best players in the world out, mic’d up, and without all the pressure, even if it did rain the entire time.

In this volume, we look at why even Tiger is feeling the recession, find out how he feels about sportsmanship, and see how Jack honored some college golfers. Also on tap, we investigate Greg Norman’s opinion on the Majors, delve into golf on sale, and do a wrap-up of the week’s winners. Read on!

  1. and just how good is that man – TW. he’s not even anywhere near his best yet… in another year or two when he’s fully recovered from the knee surgery, a calender Grand Slam is just waiting to be taken… let’s face it (and no disrespect), if Paddy can win 2 in a year, hell, Tiger can win double that surely…

  2. Yup, TW does it again. I’ve always been a fan. although I have to admit I was starting to dislike those tantrums he’s been throwing around on the course like a spoilt brat after every bad shot and lip-out. Just when he was looking very ordinary (in comparison) he just blew everyone away.

That’s what everybody has been waiting for… that swing on the final round was truly a close to perfection as a swing can ever get

  3. TW is amazing…

He caught some heat for the distance of his drives and his putting over the past few tournaments he’s played in (most notably the Masters) but he seemed to have cleared those issues up almost entirely this past weekend.

How cool was it to see him and Jack play together as well? Surely history in the making.

  4. I’m beginning to think that if we could get into a time machine and put Woods head-to-head against Nicklaus in his prime, Woods would win at about 3-and-2.

  5. I think what LeBron James did was just not on in a world where every little movement is dissected so much. Specially for a guy like LeBron who is held in high esteem.

His antics after their loss has obviously left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. I appreciate Tiger’s point about each game having a tradition and the need to respect that, well, because he obviously is making the right point.

But the Masters is not such an old story and everyone remembers how Tiger was not so very gracious in not finishing number one. After all, wasn’t his post-round interview a pretty cold affair full of curt replies and a quick attempt at running out of the place.

He even had said at one point “I almost won with a band-aid swing.” While that might be a succinct observation it is just not the kind of thing that must be mouthed after a long time hero of the people and a lovable Argentine have finished a grueling duel amongst themselves to be able to clinch the title.

But when it comes to the larger point, one thing he sure is right about… No one in the NFL is going to call a penalty on themselves. That, is for sure!
