Hello everyone. I hope this finds you all well and ready to take on the upcoming week. Let me also take this opportunity to congratulate the Giants for a fantastic upset, and console all the New England Cheaters, errr, Patriots fans. I can’t believe it happened either. At least you Bostonians still have your beloved Red Sox.
What a week to be in Arizona. If you couldn’t find something to do in Phoenix this weekend you have some serious social problems. In this volume of Hittin’ the Links we take in some of that fantastic Phoenix weekend, look in on Mr. “Unbeatable” Woods in Dubai, and drop in on some of the PGA Tour’s equipment vans. Also in this edition, we find out why golf is not boring, check in down under at the Women’s Australian open, and get our weekly Nationwide Tour report.

Ernie simply blew it! This one could do some serious damage to an already fragile psyche. Despite Woods posting a stellar 65, which included some very fortunate breaks, this one was Els tournament to lose, and he did it in spades! There are not many more opportunities for Els to win big tournaments. After yesterday’s display, there are that many fewer now. The decision to go for it was one thing, but to underclub and from the rough to boot, now that is more than questionable…that’s just plain dumb. Els was once a very very good golfer, but a few more of these performances and folks will only remember these and Els a just a good golfer.
This was not Karrie Webb’s second Australian win. It was her fourth.
Does this help anyone, or just help you feel better about yourself? How will you be remembered?
Get up on the wrong side of the world, Mark? It’s an opinion…To which we are all entitled…Or is it just you that is entitled? Get over yourself already…Take a deep breath and relax!
Seeing Tiger snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in Dubai compared to the bumbling performance by JB Holmes and his competitors down the stretch at the FBR Open makes you realize the huge chasm between Tiger and the rest of the PGA. Just looking at both Ernie and Phil fail to win when they were both in a position to claim victory, also made you realize how far these guys have to go before they can even pretend to be serious contenders for the # 1 ranking. Mentally, they are midgets on the course compared to Tiger when it comes to focus and the desire to win each time they tee it up.
