Hello golf fans, and welcome again to Hittin’ the Links. Well the PGA Tour has a Monday finish this week and there is a lot of golf news out there. I mean really and truly its news all by itself when on Sunday it takes Tiger 13 holes to make a birdie.
In this edition of HTL we first say congratulations to Annika on the birth of her child, then find out what made Paul Casey miss the Deutsche Bank Championship, and see who will be the starters at the 2010 Masters. Also, we investigate who has a plan to be #1 in the world, see what LPGA tournament decided to stick around another year, and do a wrap-up of the week’s tournaments. Read on!

funny that Tiger dissed NBC & Jimmie Roberts Monday @ the Deutsche and wouldn’t speak to them. NBC puts millions into the production has dozens of employees there and he tells them to stuff it…should NBC be pissed? What’s that about?
He spoke in the press tent for seven to ten minutes. Why should he also speak with NBC about finishing T11? It’s a short week and perhaps he wanted to get to Chicago. Or take a quick flight down to Orlando.
In the eyes of some the guy can do no right (and in the eyes of others, no wrong), but this seems a lot more of the former than the latter.
yeh I see your point. I was looking at it from a business standpoint. Almost all the money comes from TV and the companies that advertise. Lebron James did the same thing after losing to Lakers..so I guess no big deal.
Vote for this as post of the year. Tiger has no responsibilty to give an interview about “what went wrong” answering silly questions that if you knew the question 95% of us would probably already know what his response would’ve been. I can’t agree more that to some people the guy can do know wrong.
Instead of the media constantly criticizing athletes that actually are respectable human beings unlike most, let give them a little respect that they deserve.
Now I tend to disagree. Tiger or Phil or anyone else don’t make a penney from you or me until we buy something Nike, Callaway or ATT that is paying their salary & purse. I deal with motor sports promo and we must constantly explain to our “talent” that nobody (on the business side) gives a crap about their stupid car or bike…you are just a vehicle to sell ad time and the stuff that’s plastered on your vehicle. Having Tiger’s face for even 1 minute sells “stuff” in front of millions and not a few dozen in the press tent. I just felt bad for NBC (and probably other sponsers) who put a lot of time and money into the event and the No 1 draw, the reason golf is what it is, stiffs em. Note how Steward Cink refused to take off his Nike cap during the Open presentation…a total fau paux in the UK but wow he knows who butters his bread…. Not to think I’m a total d…head..Tiger was going for a 59 with a few holes left, I would have watched the interview (and maybe bought a Nike hat next weekend)
