Playing 20 questions with today’s top golfers has always been a personal dream of mine, aside from playing wiffle ball on the floor of the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Well The PGA of America has beat me to it. They were able to ask the 2005 Grand Slam of Golf participants, being the winners of this year’s four major tournaments Tiger Woods, Michael Campbell, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh, 20 questions about their interests. With questions from their favorite golf hole inside of the U.S. and outside of the U.S. to their favorite male and female athlete.
Here are the questions and answers with some quick commentary thrown in:
1. Favorite Course, U.S.?
Tiger Woods: August National
Michael Campbell: Pinehurst No. 2
Phil Mickelson: Whisper Rock
Vijay Singh: Augusta National
Great choices from all four, although I thought Phil would have chosen Augusta as well since his first major win was born there. Good advertisement for his trademark course though.
2. Favorite Golf Hole, U.S.?
Tiger Woods: Cypress Point, Hole 16
Michael Campbell: Pinehurst, Hole 17
Phil Mickelson: Augusta National, Hole 12
Vijay Singh: Pebble Beach, Hole 18
Leave it to Tiger to pick one of the most challenging holes in golf as his favorite.
3. Favorite Course Outside U.S.?
Tiger Woods: St. Andrews, Old Course
Michael Campbell: Kauri Cliffs, New Zealand
Phil Mickelson: St. Andrews, Old Course
Vijay Singh: Ballybunion Golf Links
Although I have never been to New Zealand or let alone played Kauri Cliffs, just by checking out their web site I can say that it is one of my favorite courses outside of the U.S. as well. Good choice Mike!
7. One Mulligan You’d Like to Take?
Tiger Woods: No mulligans in golf
Michael Campbell: My 2nd shot at the 5th hole at St. Andrews, final round of 1995 Open
Phil Mickelson: Tee shot on 17 at 2004 U.S. Open
Vijay Singh: Final round of 2002 Masters, Hole 15 third shot
Let it be known to never drop another ball following a thinly struck 3-iron while in Tiger’s group.

Tiger Woods: All 14
Michael Campbell: Callaway FT3 driver
Phil Mickelson: Putter
Vijay Singh: Putter
Michael Campbell’s favorite thing to do tomorrow will be to pull the Callaway bonus check out of the mailbox.

Michael Campbell: Putter
