Roenick Golf Crossbow Putter Review

Adding a Crossbow putter to your bag could end up helping you drop a few more putts. And take more money from your playing partners.

Roenick Crossbow PutterIt’s fun to see some new up-and-coming equipment companies come out with some pretty innovative products designed to help lower your golf score.

One of those companies is Roenick Golf, who have come out with a pretty ingenious idea for a putter that not only incorporates some nice customization features but also an alignment-aid system that should help you drop a few more putts per round and give you some added confidence every time you stand over a putt.

I’m not the biggest mallet guy in the world, to put it mildly so even with the above features, I was pretty skeptical that the Crossbow had any chance of securing a spot in my very small putter rotation, yet alone make to my bag.

TaylorMade Rolls Out Rossa Monza Spider Balero and R9 460

Stop the presses, TaylorMade releases another driver.

Bag DropTaylorMade Golf continues to roll out the equipment for 2009 and this month they’ve given you a new driver and new putter to hopefully fill out your bag. We poke a bit of fun at TaylorMade about their product release cycle, but there is little doubt that for the myriad of products they release in a year, for the most part they churn out some very innovative equipment.

This time around we get a the Rossa Monza Spider Balero – the latest edition to join the popular mallet series – as well as the R9 460 driver, which features Flight Control Technology but no movable weights.

FootJoy Adds ICON Shoes to Collection

FootJoy says goodbye to one era and perhaps starts another.

Bag DropThe folks at FootJoy aren’t resting on the laurels with the release of they SYNR-G shoes from just a little while ago as they’ve now added their ICON premium line to their stable of shoes.

Taking some of the best technology from their DryJoys, Reel-Fit, and SYNR-G shoes and incorporating some higher-end leather, the ICON shoes are a contemporary, updated look to your base saddle and wingtip style of golf shoes with a few other styles tossed in for kicks.

Many view the ICON line as a replacement to the Classics line of shoes, but FootJoy is quick to point out that though they may occupy a similar price range, the ICON line is really a fresh new step in the company’s history.

Boasting a number of pretty nifty features and some serious technology, its safe to say that these are some pretty sweet rides for your feet and look to be seriously comfortable to make your round just a bit more enjoyable.

SeeMore Putters Expands Lineup for 2009

SeeMore adds their RifleScope Technology to a few more putters for 2009.

Bag DropSeeMore Putters has had an interesting history. Payne Stewart used a SeeMore putter to win the 1999 U.S. Open. The company went quiet for some time until their re-launch in 2007 after being purchased by Jim Grundberg and Jason Pouliot in the fall of 2006.

With Zach Johnson’s win in the 2007 Masters, and utilizing their RifleScope Technology and status as a “premier independent boutique putter maker,” SeeMore is making some waves by introducing several new putters for 2009.

Mizuno Golf Releases MX-700 Drivers, Fairway Woods and Hybrids

Mizuno Golf offers up a little “hot metal” for you.

Bag DropOne of the first thoughts that came to mind when I saw the newest offering from Mizuno Golf was; “Where’s the blue?” In its place is a pretty bold black and yellow paint/graphic scheme and some serious technology under the hood with their new “Hot Metal.”

Offering up a new driver, fairway woods, and hybrids, Mizuno has something for everyone. While long enjoying a storied history with their forged irons, woods aren’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the company. This latest offering looks to change that perception.

Scotty Cameron Rolls Out Kombi Mallets

Scotty Cameron is putting red cherry dots on everything now.

Bag DropI must say that when Scotty Cameron comes out with a mallet putter, it certainly strays from the ordinary (remember the Futura Phantom, anyone?) and his latest incarnation continues to do just that.

It seems like Mr. Cameron is staying with his red cherry-dot theme for 2009 with the Studio Select lineup and those features and looks carry over to a mallet versions, the Kombi, Kombi Mid, and Kombi Long.

Sun Mountain Rolls Out Micro Cart and Four 5 Carry Bag

Sun Mountain rolls out one of the coolest push carts on the market today.

Bag DropBack in the day (okay, only about five years ago) I would look every spring to see what the newest carry bags had to offer. About a decade ago, I had a carry bag that had 14-club individual dividers that I sorta liked (although the design left a lot to be desired) and I was always on the lookout for something similar but better.

I’ve since quite carrying my bag but the folks at Sun Mountain must have been thinking of me when they designed their new Four 5 carry bag. To top it off, they’ve also come out with one of the sweetest-looking push carts on the market today with the Micro Cart. I walk the vast majority of the time and my push cart is one of my most indispensable pieces of golf equipment, so I’m very intrigued by this offering.
