TaylorMade Introduces the New RocketBladez Irons and Ghost Spider S Putter

TaylorMade says that its new technology has completely changed the iron while also updating one of its more popular putters.

Bag Drop There is no question that TaylorMade is one of the most popular golf manufacturers in today’s market and one of the biggest reasons for that is the amount of technology that goes into their clubs. While some may argue that at least some of their technology is a bit on the gimmicky side, the TaylorMade R&D department puts in a lot of work and comes up with features that haven’t been seen in golf clubs before. From adjustable drivers, to white paint, moveable weights and an adjustable sole plate, their doesn’t seem to be much that the company hasn’t thought of. This time around, TaylorMade a two new releases; the Rocketbladez irons and the Ghost Spider S putters.

Callaway’s newest driver boasts the lowest CG of any adjustable driver along with faster ball speeds, lower spin and maximum distance.

Bag DropOn January 18, 2013, Callaway Golf will release the new RAZR Fit Xtreme driver to the public. The driver, which has already found it’s way into a few bags on the tour, has many features which makes it “very long and consistent,” acoording to Dr. Alan Hocknell the senior VP of Research and Development for Callaway.

Chief among the new features is Speed Frame Face Technology, which is really a combination of two previous technologies that have been seen in the past, VFT (variable face thickness) and Hyperbolic Face Technology. The result of this combination is a face that that has a larger and more consistent sweet spot and higher ball speeds. New Shoes From TRUE Linkswear

The TRUE sensei are the newest shoes from TRUE Linkswear, and are great for golf, running or just around town.

Bag DropBack in 2010, The Sand Trap started covering a small golf shoe company by the name of TRUE Linkswear and the release of their original shoe the TRUE tour. This shoe was unique in the sense that it was spikeless (there were very few at the time), and even more so because it promoted the foot to work naturally. The shoe was also lighter than pretty much anything else available. Since that time, a few things have happened; TRUE has grown and has released a few more models including the TRUE stealth (and then updates to the tour and stealth) and the TRUE phx as well as a women’s shoe, the TRUE isis.  In addition to that, the market for lightweight, natural motion golf shoes has boomed with nearly every major manufacturer having a shoe in this catagory. At the beginning of the month, TRUE released the next shoe in their lineup, the TRUE sensei, which in addition to being a great golf shoe also doubles as a running shoe. In fact, Ryan Moore won last month in Las Vegas wearing these on the same day that the TRUE Linkswear president, Robert Rigg, ran the Portland Marathon in them.

PING Updates the Anser Lineup

PING finally gets into the adjustable driver market with the introduction of the PING Anser Driver as well as introducing new fairway woods, hybrids, and irons.

Bag DropFor a few years now, the big trend in the driver market has been the introduction of adjustable clubs. We first saw this with the TaylorMade R9 line and over the last few years the majority of companies have fallen in line and introduced some sort of adjustable driver. Up until this point, PING has stayed away from this market, but with the updated Anser line (which also includes fairway woods, hybrids, and irons) PING now has an adjustable driver.

Cobra Golf Release Two New Special Edition Drivers

Cobra Golf teams up with Ferrari to create a luxurious new driver and creates a special AMP driver to honor Rickie Fowler’s “Sunday Orange.”

Bag DropOver the summer, Cobra Golf will release two special edition drivers. The first, debuting in July, is a creation based on a collaboration between Cobra equipment engineers and aerodynamics engineers at Ferrari. The result is a fast, beautiful, and expensive driver that is the centerpiece of the Ferrari Golf Collection.

The second special edition on its way is an all orange version of the Cobra AMP driver. Much like the all pink driver that PING created for Bubba Watson, Cobra has essentially done the same with the AMP driver for Rickie Fowler. Cleveland Golf Goes Classic With New Drivers, Irons, and Wedges

Cleveland Golf goes old school with retro looking drivers and the reintroduction of the 588 series of wedges.

Bag DropCleveland Golf has long been a company that many golfers have turned to, especially when it came to wedges. The original 588 wedge was regarded as one of the best ever made and many of those wedges stayed in the bags of their owners until there were no more grooves left on the face. Since the time of the original 588 many things have changed at Cleveland Golf, such as the namesake of the company, Roger Cleveland, moving over to Callaway Golf. During that time Cleveland has continued to make high quality clubs and have been very successful with the CG line of wedges as well as their jump into the world of super light drivers.

Now the company has brought back the 588 wedge as well as introduced new irons to go along with them. In addition to that, they have taken their drivers and given them a classic look.
