 There is no question that TaylorMade is one of the most popular golf manufacturers in today’s market and one of the biggest reasons for that is the amount of technology that goes into their clubs. While some may argue that at least some of their technology is a bit on the gimmicky side, the TaylorMade R&D department puts in a lot of work and comes up with features that haven’t been seen in golf clubs before. From adjustable drivers, to white paint, moveable weights and an adjustable sole plate, their doesn’t seem to be much that the company hasn’t thought of. This time around, TaylorMade a two new releases; the Rocketbladez irons and the Ghost Spider S putters.

On January 18, 2013, Callaway Golf will release the new RAZR Fit Xtreme driver to the public. The driver, which has already found it’s way into a few bags on the tour, has many features which makes it “very long and consistent,” acoording to Dr. Alan Hocknell the senior VP of Research and Development for Callaway.

Chief among the new features is Speed Frame Face Technology, which is really a combination of two previous technologies that have been seen in the past, VFT (variable face thickness) and Hyperbolic Face Technology. The result of this combination is a face that that has a larger and more consistent sweet spot and higher ball speeds. In addition to the faster ball speeds, the Speed Frame Face redistributes some of the material in the clubhead to lower the center of gravity and maximize the MOI, giving golfers better ball flight and forgiveness.

In the coming months, Callaway Golf will be releasing two new products to the golfing world. The first, which will be available in December, are the X Utility Prototype Irons. Towards the end of January, Callaway will release the new version of the X Forged irons. Both clubs were designed by Callaway Chief Designer Roger Cleveland. In addition to the new irons, Odyssey (Callaway’s putter division), recently released a new premium line, the ProType Black Putters.

This September Mizuno released four new sets of irons aimed at all levels of golfers. For the better player they have released the MP-64, a better players cavity back. For those looking for something a bit more forgiving without giving up too much of the workability, there is the new MP-H4 which targets scratch golfers to those with handicaps up to around 15. In addition to the two new MP sets, there are new JPX irons as well (which if you remember replaced the MX line last year). They are the JPX-825 and the JPX-825 Pro.

For a few years now, the big trend in the driver market has been the introduction of adjustable clubs. We first saw this with the TaylorMade R9 line and over the last few years the majority of companies have fallen in line and introduced some sort of adjustable driver. Up until this point, PING has stayed away from this market, but with the updated Anser line (which also includes fairway woods, hybrids, and irons) PING now has an adjustable driver.

Over the summer, Cobra Golf will release two special edition drivers. The first, debuting in July, is a creation based on a collaboration between Cobra equipment engineers and aerodynamics engineers at Ferrari. The result is a fast, beautiful, and expensive driver that is the centerpiece of the Ferrari Golf Collection.

The second special edition on its way is an all orange version of the Cobra AMP driver. Much like the all pink driver that PING created for Bubba Watson, Cobra has essentially done the same with the AMP driver for Rickie Fowler. For those that thought that the original AMP was a lot of orange, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Cleveland Golf has long been a company that many golfers have turned to, especially when it came to wedges. The original 588 wedge was regarded as one of the best ever made and many of those wedges stayed in the bags of their owners until there were no more grooves left on the face. Since the time of the original 588 many things have changed at Cleveland Golf, such as the namesake of the company, Roger Cleveland, moving over to Callaway Golf. During that time Cleveland has continued to make high quality clubs and have been very successful with the CG line of wedges as well as their jump into the world of super light drivers.

Now the company has brought back the 588 wedge as well as introduced new irons to go along with them. In addition to that, they have taken their drivers and given them a classic look.
