Volume One Hundred Seventeen

Annika takes the high road.

Hitting the LinksPlayoffs weren’t just happening in baseball this week as both the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour needed some extra time to give us winners in the Valero Texas Open and Longs Drug Challenge.

This week, we have several links from the Valero Texas Open, Annika turns down an invite, and Payne Stewart’s son is making a name for himself.

Volume One Hundred Sixteen

Who knew Woody Austin was such a comedian?

Hitting the LinksThe American team won the Presidents Cup by playing flawless in the team matches and strong play from top point-getter David Toms and an undefeated Scott Verplank as well as having some fun with some lake diving from Woody Austin.

This week, we have several links from the Presidents Cup, Jack wants to captain the Ryder Cup team, and if you’re not eligible to get into a tournament, just change the rules.

Volume One Hundred Fifteen

Well let’s see, there’s the Walker Cup, the Solheim Cup, the PGA Cup…

Hitting the LinksEven with the race for the coveted FedExCup over, there is still plenty of golf yet to be played with PGA Tour players trying to stay employed on the main circuit and, oh yeah, this little event call The Presidents Cup.

This week, we have several links from the PGA Tour’s Fall Season, the upcoming Presidents Cup, and back-to-back shots you won’t believe.

Volume One Hundred Fourteen

Tiger made East Lake look like Uncle Al’s Pitch and Putt.

Hitting the LinksAfter taking a bit of heat for not watching golf last weekend (the horror!), I sat down and watched Zack Johnson throw up a 60 on Saturday and Tiger Woods giving the rest of the field a beat-down with an eight-stroke victory at the Tour Championship to claim the inaugural FedExCup.

This week, we have several links from the Tour Championship, “choking dogs,” and a golf score that is simply ridiculous.

Volume One Hundred Thirteen

Sorry Tim Finchem, I watched football all weekend instead of your beloved Fed Ex Cup Playoffs.

Hitting the LinksTiger Woods put on an amazing display of golf over the weekend to win the BMW Championship and the United States squeaked out a one-point victory over Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup. Of course, I saw almost none of it as college football and the NFL held my TV hostage over the weekend.

This week, we have several links from the BMW Championship, some historic golf clubs, and a golf equipment company on the auction block.

Volume One Hundred Twelve

No Tiger? No problem as there was plenty of excitement to go around at the Barclays over the weekend.

Hitting the LinksThe FedExCup started out in dramatic fashion as Steve Stricker, K.J. Choi, and a host of others battled it out at the Barclays Classic with Stricker gaining his first victory in six years. Also, I’m beginning to sound like a broken record as Lorena Ochoa wins yet again on the LPGA Tour at the Safeway Classic.

This week, we have several links from a long overdue winner, an earlier version of the hottest swing theory, and a pretty distinguished golf clinic.

Volume One Hundred Eleven

Who’s excited about the FedExCup? Anyone? Anyone?

Hitting the LinksWell, the FedExCup excitement is off to a raring start after the best player in the world has decided to skip Week One of the playoffs (yawn). Speaking of the world’s best, Lorena Ochoa has left no doubt about who is the best player on the LPGA Tour is as she notches her fifth win of the year at the Canadian Open.

This week, we have several links from a first time winner, honors for the “Great White Shark,” and a girl who just wanted to play golf.

Volume One Hundred Ten

Will 13 be a lucky or an unlucky number for Tiger? We won’t get to find out for eight long months.

Hitting the LinksVirtually everyone thought Tiger winning was a foregone conclusion. Woody Austin and Ernie Els made us rethink that conclusion several times, but couldn’t quite prove us incorrect.

This week, we have several links from Glory’s Last Shot, not one of which includes the Presidents Cup, now only about a month away.

Volume One Hundred Nine

I wonder what Rory thinks about the “New Tiger” now?

Hitting the LinksTiger Woods toyed with the field and Firestone Country Club looked like a U.S. Open venue with added length and ankle-deep rough. What is the aversion of tournament officials to birdie and eagle opportunities?

And it was a historic occasion as Lorena Ochoa won her first major at the Ricoh Women’s British Open at the Old Course at St. Andrews for the first time ever. Congratulations are also in order for Steve Flesch, who won the Reno-Tahoe Open by five shots.

This week we have a recap of the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational, Lorena Ochoa closes the deal with her first major, and Herbert Green relives the pressure of trying to win under a death threat.
