Another first-time winner, a fifth-time winner and a Monday finish

Hittin' the LinksDon’t look now, but 2015 is drawing to a close, particularly in golf.

The PGA TOUR is already on its 2015-16 season, and there’s only one more week of FedEx Cup points available until January. The Champions Tour is already on hiatus. Both the European and the LPGA Tours will conclude next week with their season ending championships. The Race to Dubai will crown a winner at the DP World Tour Championship in the United Arab Emirates. The women will gather a Tiburon in Florida for the CME Group Tour Championship, where a Lydia Ko and Inbee Park showdown is expected.

Hole #1: Another First
It seems like a lot of folks are getting their first tour wins this time of year. Kristoffer Broberg of Sweden got his at the BMW Masters in Shanghai in a playoff over Patrick Reed. [Link]

Heavy rains led to another Monday finish on the PGA TOUR at the OHL Mayakoba Classic. Despite more rain, Graeme McDowell persevered to win it in a playoff over Russell Knox (who nearly pulled off the Shanghai-Mayakoba double) and Jason Bohn. [Link]

Jason and Ellie Day welcomed a daughter, Lucy, to the world on Nov. 11, just a day before Jason’s own birthday. [Link]

Hole #5: Nicklaus Wins Ali Legacy Award
Sports Illustrated announced this week that Jack Nicklaus will receive its Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, the third to be so honored. The award is given to sports figures who have made exceptional humanitarian contributions over their lifetimes. [Link]
