Volume Twenty

Forget your morning paper! Grab some coffee and tune into this week’s links.

Hittin' the LinksWhen I saw on my calendar that today is the first day of August, I remembered that I have a golf trip scheduled for the end of this month where my friends and I are playing 36-36-18 in 3 straight days in the heat and humidity of August. My first thought was “Shoot, I’m not going to make it.” When I scheduled this thing, I didn’t really think much past the friends, the gambling (poker at night), and the beer. Now, I’m worried that I’ll not be able to finish.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to survive this golf trip? Also, any good gambling games are welcomed as well. Please leave comments after this week’s links.

Hole 1: Free Balls?
I registered for this to get a free sleeve of Titleist NXT balls. Who knows if it will work, but it’s worth a try. [link]

Hole 2: Putt-Putt Tournaments
This is a fun article about mini-golf tournaments I found in the New York Times. I’ve never been good at putt-putt. I think in order to be good at putt-putt you have to have never played golf before. [link]

Hole 3: Backyard Putting Green
I was watching HGTV (like many new home owners do) and I found this episode very interesting. And while I don’t have a backyard because I live in a town house, I thought I’d pass this on to the masses in case they can convince their wives to allow this. If so, please email me so I can come help and practice. [link]

Hole 4: The Shoes Make the Man
I did a review of some adidas golf shoes and loved them. After seeing these, I want another pair. They look like golf shoes on steroids. I love them. [link]

Hole 5: Creamer’s Cash
I’m quickly becoming a huge fan of Paula Creamer’s. After reading this, I wonder if she needs a boyfriend? [link]

Hole 6: No More Majors for Arnie
Is it just me, or is this a little anti-climatic? Maybe that’s the way Arnie wants it, but surely his army would like to send him out in style? I think we need to give him a proper send off and tribute. He is one of the greatest to play the game. [link]

Hole 7: I’m Available
Hey mediaguru, do you need an assistant? I’m your man. You can be assured that those socks won’t be in that coffee EVER. And, I’ll do my best to get more girls to flash you. As I was reading a day in his life, I thought, this would never be entertaining if I chronicled my life. The highlight of my day is when I eat my PBJ at lunch. [link]

Hole 8: This Title Makes me Laugh
The title alone on this one is enough to warrant a selection for HTL. To be honest, I’m not sure what the article is about. I just kept reading the title and giggling like a little school girl. [link]

Hole 9: Golf Photos
There’s some great images in this Golf Digest photo sequence. I’ll let the images speak for themselves. [link]
