Golf World magazine has asked The Sand Trap partner GolfWRX.com for some help in promoting the Golf World Scottsdale Invitational, so we’re pitching in as well.
Regardless whether your season has ended or is just about to peak, Golf World is offering an incredible and unique opportunity to shake the Holiday blues and get back into the sun through a special GolfWRX members only registration for the upcoming Golf World Scottsdale Invitational Tournament. This is the second year in Scottsdale and the event is hosted on four premier courses, including the TPC of Scottsdale, home of the FBR Open.
Jim Cardosi, GolfWRX member Hifade, attended last year’s event and says:
I can tell you from experience that this event is nothing short of first class. It is a flighted event so golfers at every skill level are welcome. The event is 3 day stroke play within your flight. The competition is real good and the accommodations and event coordination by the good folks at GolfWord are even better. Practice rounds are available and when the “gun goes off,” it the real deal.
This event is special for many reasons, including:
- The quality and proximity of the host courses and resort
- It will serve as Golf World’s official subscriber championship and the event winner will be featured in a congratulatory Golf World ad
- Participants can interact with Golf World writers
- Outstanding prizes and gift bags
- The field is limited to only 100 participants
- The individual stroke play and two-person team winners will receive an invitation to participate in the Scottsdale Celebrity – a pro-am event affiliated with the PGA Tour’s FBR Open

How do I get to Scottsdale?
Scottsdale-an upscale community of 200,000 residents-is part of the metro Phoenix area. Most visitors fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which is 10 miles southwest of downtown Scottsdale. Phoenix Sky Harbor is one of the nation’s largest airports with 1,300 daily arrivals and departures with non-stop service to 105 cities.
Do I need to rent a car?
Yes. You’ll need an automobile for transportation to and from golf and will find it much easier to traverse the Scottsdale area in a car than by taxi.
Is there anything to do at night in Scottsdale?
Scottsdale features fantastic restaurants, offering practically every imaginable type of cuisine. Perhaps even better, though, is the quantity and quality of nightclubs in downtown Scottsdale and further north near the event’s headquarters resort – Resort Suites of Scottsdale.
