Volume Twenty-Seven

I hope you’re not too busy to check out this week’s links.

Hittin' the LinksOn Friday, I played in a scramble with a few guys from my office. We played great, shot -13 and ended up winning the the thing. It was a lot of fun. That score was the lowest I’ve ever been on a scramble team. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever been in the double digits. I’m usually on the team who finishes -8.

What’s everyone’s lowest scramble score? Leave it in the comments. Now, on to the links.

Hole 1: Pay to Play?
Do you think it’s okay to pay players to come to your tournament? I don’t. Don’t they get paid enough already? [link]

Hole 2: Nike Contacts
I have a prescription for eye glasses because I can’t see anything far away, but I don’t wear them on the golf course. They drive me crazy. Since I’m a self-admitted Nike whore, I think I might give these a try. [link]

Hole 3: Seve Trophy
Guess where they’re playing the Seve Trophy? Bangkok! (As I kick you in the nuts) 😛 Man I love that joke! [link]

Hole 4: Jason Gore is the Best
I love Jason Gore. Are there any JG haters out there? I don’t think so. He’s my new favorite player. Congrats on the win JG. [link]

Hole 5: World Match Play
With all the big dogs sitting this one out, I completely forgot about the World Match Play going on. Maybe Michael Campbell is becoming one of the better players in the world? I’m still not convinced, but we’ll see. [link]

Hole 6: These Guys are Good
I didn’t know that there was a Special Olympics golf tournament. That’s awesome. There’s some good scores in there. There are players from all different ages competing. Check out the scores and support the Special Olympics. [link]

Hole 7: Almost a Battlefield Promo
Troy Matteson is one win away to getting a Battlefield Promotion to the PGA Tour. He won his second Nationwide title of the yearnd leads the tour in earnings for 2005. I watched a little of his game and he’ll make an impression on the PGA Tour. [link]

Hole 8: Checklist
Hookedongolfblog.com has made this checklist of necessary golf accessories. The list looks pretty good to me. In fact, I’ve printed it off as an inventory list to check off gear I have at home tonight and to make a shopping list for anything I’m missing. [link]

Hole 9: Titleist + RSS = Happy
I love the fact the Titleist now has RSS feeds. I was a late bloomer with RSS, but now can’t live without it. It’s a godsend. I wish all websites had feeds. [link]

  1. -20 at a play for pay par 70 course in the Boston suburbs. The Pro would set up teams (ABCD players) for a scramble on one Sun afternoon each month.

We made eagles on two of the par5’s and birdied all the rest of the holes. We all missed the green on a short par3, but one of the guys chipped in for a birdie.

    A really nice golf experience!
