  1. . That exactly what I thought was up, that they had made up a fake e-mail account and that Chris W did not exist. So I e-mail Callaway directly from their web page and asked if a Chris W. worked for them. They e-mailed me back saying that Chris did indeed work for them and that he was a customer service representive. It still seems kind of fishy to me so I will proly still send a club or 2 in to Callaway just I don't think about it. Seems like an awful strange way to do business and I would still like to know if GolfEtail in authorized retailor. I have tomorrow off so I am going to make some phone calls and find out. And this might be me being really paranoid but I am going to call Callaway and ask to speak to Chris himself and make sure he is the one actually e-mailing me. If GolfEtail knows there is a Chris W working for Callaway it would a way to for them to just say that and them take the chance of people not going any further and just believing them.....if that makes any sense.
  2. I have inspected them and I don't see any flaws, although I have read that golf pro ahev inspected some fakes and had a hard time telling that they were fakes. I am going to e-mail callaway and see if GolfEtail in indeed a authorized retailor. Also shindig let me know what you hear about your nike's. If nothing else I am going to send in a club that I hit the least (proly 4 iron) just to ease my mind because I do plan on having them for a while. Thanks for all the advice from everyone.
  3. This is noe the reply I got from Chris Witham of Callaway golf (If indeed he does work for Callaway) Hi Derric, Unfortunately once it misses the scan there is no way to input it which means the serial number can never be checked over the phone. Truthfully whenever we do check serial numbers we always let people know we can not authenticate anything over the phone and even though the serial number matches it doesn’t guarantee anything anyways since the counterfeiters are now counterfeiting serial #'s as well. Ive seen many numbers match and come in and be counterfeit so you're not really missing much. If there is ever a question, a club can always be sent into us to authenticate. As far as the serial number on the shaft goes… that was mis-information. The shafts are True Temper shafts so any information that is underneath the grip will be True Temper info and will have nothing to do with Callaway Golf. I hope this helps. Thanks, CW Should I take his word? Send them in? Kind of stinks that I have to pay for shipping and send it in when I should have got a set that was in the system in the first place. What happens if down the road I would want to sell them? What am I suppose to tell the buyer?? That he has to take my word that they are real because I took another guys word? Kind of sloppy busines if you ask me.
  4. Just would like to say thanks for everyone who chimmed in to help. Very much appreciated. Hopefully will know something by Monday. No matter what happens I am taking my clubs to the cities to have Golf Galaxy look at them and have them take a couple of the grips off to make sure there is a serial number under them. Thanks again.
  5. I should point out that the letter from Callaway was through GolfEtail. Mike from golfEtail is the one who e-mailed them frist and had Chris e-mail me. When I first called Callaway the first time to get them authenticated, the lady who I spoke to who told me the clubs were not in their system also told me that I should buy Callaway clubs from an authorized deal. I don't know if she meant that GolfEtail is not an authorized dealer or if she didn't know. I have e-mailed Callaway to see if Chris Witham does indeed work for them. I just don't know what to think. I had a 7 day money back, but after going through all of this to see if they are fakes... well the 7 days are already up. Looks like I might be stuck with them whether they are real or not. Just sucks saving up enough money for my first nice set of golf clubs I have ever purchased and now it looks like they might be fakes.
  6. This is the the letter I recieved from Chris witham from Callaway. Hi Mr. Becker! I’m sorry for the issue you’re having here. I wish I had a more in depth answer for you but the bottom line is, occasionally some of our clubs do not get scanned on their way out and therefore will not be in our system if someone calls to check on them. It happens on a small % of clubs but when you factor in the quantity we ship it can be quite a few that this could happen on. Mr Becker, I completely understand your concern and commend your research on this. About 70% of our clubs that are online that are not from an authorized retailer are counterfeit so it’s good to becareful. You are how ever in great hands with Mike and Golfetail. They are definitely authorized retailers and a great account of ours so no need to worry about anything you purchase from them. If you have any further questions please let me know. 7. They are now telling me they are going to aunthenticate the clubs with Callaway.... just not sure if I believe them or not.
  8. I recently purchased a set of callway x24's from Golfetail. I called Callaway to authenticate the serial number and they told me it was not in their system. I called golfetail and they told me that they had picked up a pallet from calaway and that they forgot to scan them. The weird thing is that I was doing a little research on this website (thesandtrap) and there was a story on here that happened to a pallet of x20's and it was the same thing, they forgot to scan the clubs. So what does everyone think? Are they that careless where they have done this twice in the last 6 months( the story I was refering to earlier was in oct of 2010) Or is it possible they are selling fakes. Has anyone ever bought anything from them and absolutly made sure they were a real club? All of there review off ebay are pretty positive and they have good feedback. Thanks for any help.
