  1. Thank you all for the replies! I'm enjoying all of yalls input...especially the accusations that I'm an old man . Sorry it has been a while since I have updated this, I've had a lot going on. Good and bad news. Firstly, Ive been golfing in pretty much all my spare time and have becoming much more consistent! Makes the game plenty more enjoyable. But the bad news is I have a manual labor job and I messed up my rotator cuff. I shrugged it off as a soreness and played 9 holes, but after going to the doctor I learned that its strained. Looks like no golf for a little while....Its gonna be a long couple of weeks.
  2. Thanks so much for all of the responses! To answer some of the responses, I'm pretty lucky because I live literally right next to the city's country club and am a member, so I can go whenever I want and the don't have to worry about any fees. I'd love to learn from my dad, but he is a lawyer and is literally working all the time. The only free time he gets is spent on going to golf tournaments, the family is even going to one this weekend even though its my mom's birthday haha. Even though I probably won't get too much time to play with him before he retires i'll go whenever we have a chance....but on the bright side of things he said that he would gladly get me lessons from a pro at the club! I'm not sure what to do about getting fitted for clubs yet....I have a pretty nice set of clubs because my dad has so many. Maybe i'll just talk to the pro and see what he thinks. Everything else aside, i'm off to go play with some of my buddies. I'll keep yall updated with how it goes! I caught this haha....to each his own.
  3. Hello all, I am new to this forum but have been lurking for a bit. I am 18 years old and would like to consider getting somewhat "into" golf. My dad has always been a huge golfer and has won many tournaments, but i have only recently decided to try and hit the links. I went golfing with my friends for fun a few weeks ago in the 105(ish) range, not quite sure about the score because we didn't take it all too seriously. I was surprised how much I enjoyed myself and my interest has been growing through watching the tour on tv. I'm not saying I have high hopes or dreams, but would it be possible for me to break 90 consistently? I have hit the range everyday the past two weeks for a couple hours and am thoroughly enjoying myself. I spend most of my time chipping and putting but I have seen tons of improvement in my irons. The thing that is most frustrating to me is my driver....I slice it all the time and I know the fact that I can't hit the fairway on a regular basis will be extremely detrimental to my game. My apologies for the long post....I just have so much I would like to discuss and learn from you all. I know talking heads over the internet will only go so far, but there seems to be a lot of guys with some experience on here. My main question is this: Do you think it is possible for me to not be completely humiliated if i attempt to get into the golfing world? Also, I read the other 18 year olds posts....I didn't find it helpful though because his goals were kind of nonsense. Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing all of your replies, good or bad!
