The cart-path sign/pickup truck response was great!
I'm really new to the game so here's mine......I was playing in a scramble a couple of years ago; I'm the worst player in the foursome by far. First hole is a looong par 5, we hit a good drive. 2nd shot...nothing usable so we use a mulligan and have our best driver hit a 3-wood. He smokes it onto the green. As we get up there, 3 of the folks from my service club (who are running the outing) are drinking beer and carrying on about 20 feet away. They are assigned to take pictures (which they do occasionally amid all of the carousing and catcalling). Our team is hunkered down trying to study the green while they carry on. I turn to the carousers and politely ask..."hey guys, we would really love to make this one...can you tone it down a little?". They start cat-calling right away: "Oh...Mr. Big Time wants us to hush so that we don't break his focus! We are SO sorry if we are disturbing you!".
The foursome picks me to putt first and I can the sliding 30-footer for eagle. Couldn't make a putt for the rest of the day, but at least I made one when people were watching!
Our team celebrated that thing like we'd won the Ryder Cup or something! Ahhh..good times.
