Hi everyone. I'm in the market for a new set of clubs and am looking for some advice/help. I've been playing golf for a while now (20 years), but not very regularly (maybe a handful of times a year) these days. I don't consider myself very good (36-40 handicap), but do enjoy going out when I can.
My current set of clubs is Wilson ProStaff OS, which I got 15+ years ago. The clubs have held up well, but I feel that I should get something a little more up-to-date with hopes of it improving my game a little.
Since I'm not very good, I figure that an expensive set wouldn't be very forgiving and likely wouldn't really help my game. On the other hand, I don't want to get a cheap set that won't last. I had a friend who had a brand new set of cheap golf clubs that didn't last very long (the heads on the irons started snapping off after only a couple years).
I realize that I could look for something used, but at this point, I'd like to concentrate on just getting new. In addition, I'm also leaning towards getting a complete set since I haven't played enough consistently to know what works for me.
I don't really have a budget, but at the same token I don't know if a $600 set would help my game any more than a $300 (or even $200) set. So, my search began with sets between $200-300.
After doing a little research, I've found some different sets that would appear to meet my needs:
Powerbilt TPS Triad II
Tour Edge HP 7
Tour Edge HP 11
Tour Edge Reaction 2
Wilson Profile
The Tour Edge set interests me because of their lifetime warranty. The Wilson set interests me because I've been happy with my current set. I'm also open to any other suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any help.
