Opinions on Taylor Made R9 and Burner 2.0 irons
JohnnyB replied to JohnnyB's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for the help on these. I purchased a set today and am looking forward to playing them. Will let you know how they perform. -
I am looking at some irons to purchase and would like to get some Project X 5.5 in them. Maybe the 6.0. Anyway, I can buy the irons with the KBS Stiff shaft in them, but have never hit the KBS and don't know anyone who has them in their irons. Can someone give me some feedback on the KBS vs the Project X? Stiffer, heavier? Thanks for any help on this.

I have been looking at both. I hit a friends 2.0 irons recently and they felt a little to oversized to me. However, I haven't hit R9 but have heard great things on them and can buy a set cheap. I know Jason Day hit R9 forever ( and still may be hitting them ). Here is my biggest thing. I am struggling with hitting my 4,5 and even 6 irons solid. Been hitting them off the toe quite a bit and with forged irons I am losing a ton of distance. I am just tired of trying to hit a players club when I need some more forgiveness. I like the look of the R9 and am leaning that way ( they just look more traditional and better to me ). But I wanted to see if anyone had any good opinions on this. Thanks!

About a month ago I started just not making anything over like 10 feet. Literally can go out and hit 14 greens and make one birdie. I have always been a straight back and straight through putter. I was using a Scotty Cameron 2.6. I recently even bought a center shafted two ball Odyssey and put an oversized, ok jumbo, Winn group on it. I actually lag putter even better with this putter, but still can't help but miss putts right. I probably need to give more information on this, but any tips that may be something I need to look for or check would be great. And please, no one tell me to aim further left, this somehow hasn't helped either. I am striking the ball as good as I ever have, and can't get a putt to fall. Any help ( maybe center shafted putters aren't for me? ) would be appreciated. Thanks

I have had the same set of irons for about 5 years now. I bought them used. They are Mizuno MX900s. However they have the R300 shaft in them and I need more shaft. I am not looking to spend an arm and a leg and have recently had a chance to by some R9 and the Srixon's. The R9's are a little more expensive. I am looking at the project x 5.5 shafts in either iron. Anyway, not knowing a ton about either iron, any info or sharing any experiences would be great. Thanks

We had a Callaway demo day at my club last week. I hit the Diablo Forged and was absolutely blown away. I hit the Project X 5.5, the Dynamic Gold and the KBS. For me the Project X was the best shaft. I couldn't believe how long and straight I hit the irons. They will be the next thing I purchase for sure.

Threads of R11 1 gram weight break off in clubhead
JohnnyB replied to dhanson's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I actually had a weight strip out part of my weight port on my R11. However, I bought the driver on ebay, I did register it on TaylorMade's website but I think I am SOL. Anyone know if there are options? I am gonna contact Taylor Made tomorrow about this. I still can't believe it happened.... -
I am gonna buy an R11 and cut it down to 44"....thoughts?

I just bought a 16 gram weight and a 6 gram weight to replace the 10 and 1 that come stock in the driver. Hopefully this gets the swingweight back to where I need it. I will report back on how it goes. -

I had my driver cut down yesterday. When I brought it in the store the swingweight was D-3. After having the driver cut down and with my grip back on it the new swingweight was C-7. Is this still about 12grams off as said above? ( I am not sure the weight difference from C-7 to D-3 ). I have the stock weights in the driver. I will just buy two heavier ones. Thanks again for all the help! -

Thanks for all of the hep and tips on this everyone! I got my driver in last week and I am about to take it down and have it cut to 44. I will see how it feels ( I actually prefer a heavier driver ) and I can order the heavier weights if need be. Another thing, I like to use lamkin full cord crossline black grips ( putting one on the driver today ) I know these grips are heavier thus effecting the swingweight some more. Should I add more weight to the head after putting a heavier grip on the club? I know the overall weight will be higher with this grip, but I want to make sure the weight is in the correct places. Thanks again for all of the help on this! -
After reading Tom Wishon's book 'The search for the perfect driver', I have hit and love the new R11, but I can't find a 44" ( my specs according to Wishon ) shaft. Has anyone done anything like this, and outside of making the shaft stiffer, what else might this do? I am more concerned with accuracy then the possible little distance cutting off 1.75 inches may bring. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions on this.

driver, performance wise? I was all geared up to sell one of my Camerons and my current driver ( Adams Speedline 10Fast ) and buy an R11. A friend of mine has an R11 and I love the feel of the club, I also like the fact it is heavier and for me keeps my timing and swing a little more in tune. However, if the R9 Supertri is just as long and can be tuned in about as well as the R9, I think I will save some money and just buy an R9 with a 65gram shaft. Any opinions would be appreciated. Or if anyone has any other driver suggestions that would be great. Thanks!

Hello all. I have a set of Mizuno MX-900 irons. I have had R300 shafts in them since I purchased them. They are way to whippy and not stiff enough for me and I was recently fitted and told the Project-X 5.5 is correct for me. I am now wanting to reshaft my irons myself. I just would like to learn to do it. The only question I have when buying a set of shafts on Ebay, they are saying "uncut" and appear to be 3/4 of an inch longer then what is considered standard. Will I need to cut all of these shafts down 3/4 if I purchase them? That may be a dumb question, but I want to make sure I don't totally mess this up. Here is an example of what I am talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-RIFLE-PROJECT-X-5-5-4-SW-STEEL-IRON-SHAFTS-355-/140518368819?pt=Golf_Clubmaking_Products_US&hash;=item20b78c2633#ht_3890wt_1135 Thanks for any help! ( any reshafting tips are welcomed too )
