  1. bet you they are telling you their max swing speeds. big difference.
  2. Excellent. So you sacrifice a bit by having the gap between your PW and SW...but are comfortable taking yardage off your PW or stepping on that SW a bit for a little more. Was the same way myself for the longest! I then decided to throw in a gap wedge and was with these specs for about 3 years before changing to what I posted on the first page (i've had that make-up for about 2 years now): 3i 22 5i 26.5 6i 31 7i 35.5 8i 40 9i 44 pw 48 gw 52 sw 56 lw 60 It was a great set up and I scored some of my best with this set because i had my short game so dialed in. I found though that as I travelled and played more courses...it hurt my long game too much to have such big gaps. You'll see I spaced out my mid/long irons to 4.5 degrees apart....resulting in being able to pull out a 4 iron and keep that extra wedge. In a sense I had like a 5.5 iron if you know what i mean. It's not bad but it results in about a 15-18 yard gap....as opposed to my usual 10-12 yard gap. Thought I could handle it...but not possible under pressure. MUCH easier to do that with one of the short wedge clubs. Thanks for your input!
  3. excellent sir, thanks for that explanation. Good spacing you got there. Nik
  4. that's a nice spacing there! If you drop your GW - 50 though, you'll have a 9 degree gap between your pw and sw wouldn't you????? You had your PW weakened you say? So it used to be like 44 degrees or so? You have strong lofts on your irons! So I see while you keep the GW in...you sacrifice by leaving a fairly big gap between your 3 iron and your 3 wood (a distance that might not come up very often on the course). Just out of curiosity, what is this distance....about 210-250 yards? Somewhere in that range? Pretty smart spacing i'd say!
  5. Yes, question was for you. What do you mean by standard? You mean the way they are made available off the shelf? How are they gapped accordingly?
  6. I like this breakdown. So then your lofts are like so: LW - 61 SW - 54 PW - 48 9i - 43 8 - 39 7i - 35 6i - 31 5i - 27 4i - 23 3i - 19 2Hybrid - 17 3Wood - 15 1Wood - 9.5 My 3 iron has 22 degrees of loft...my 2i/5wood has 19! You have slightly strong lofts. Do you see a big gap between your 3i and 2i? 17 degrees...you are almost hitting a 1 iron hybrid there! how is your short game distance control? You have pretty big gaps there....6 and 7 degrees. Thanks for the input!
  7. Ah yes, I see here that my 9 iron has your wedge loft. It's interesting that you have this set up. I wonder how you make up the wedge loft difference ? Assuming you have a 60 degree LW and something like a 55-56 degree SW....you must carry a 50 degree or so GW or else there's a 10 degree gap. But then what club do you take out to throw in that extra wedge you need? Interesting stuff to think about!
  8. do you use the lofts on those irons that are available off their website...or did you alter them to your liking?
  9. I agree. You must initiate your downswing with that lower body. Try to feel like your arms drop naturally...rotate hard with the lower body keeping those shoulders turned. From there you release that right side aggressively and you'll hit a hot draw. I would say exaggerate the feel and hit some big hooks so you know what you need to do to get rid of the slice/fade. From there you can correct yourself if you ever start leaking it to the right on the course. Time to go hit range balls until those hands bleed!
  10. i'm in the mid-high teens...if i go after it...i can max out at 127. But usually about 115-118. It's all about ball contact though baby! Zach Johnson is 108 mph and look at what he's done!
  11. Hi all! I wanted to know, how do you guys spread out your lofts, and therefore, your distances? I have the following breakdown: LW - 60 SW - 55 PW - 50 9i - 46 8i - 42 7i - 38 6i - 34 5i - 30 4i - 26 3i - 22 2i/5wood - 18 3wood - 15 1wood - 9.5 Does anybody know Tiger's specs? I know he has slightly old fashioned, and considered by today's standards, weak lofts. My specs are from the mid 80s...I was just curious how you all did it and if anyone knows, how the best player in the world does it. Thanks very much!
  12. Do you know of a clubmaker who can re-chrome (or whatever you call it) TA1 Form Forged or CG1 Black Pearl irons? I want them to have the same black finish that they had when I originally bought them. Thanks!
  13. Hey all, I'm looking to buy a new driver. The catch is I like my driver to have a slightly open face. My current driver is 2 degrees open and it's the titleist 905T I had specially made (it was an ultra pain and took 3 months because they messed up making it twice). I just wanted to know if anyone knows of any models that have open faces...and are more for working the ball. I can't stand these square heads and elongated faces that give you infinite MOI or whatever. I tried that new XL Hibore that i heard is 3 degrees open and it's nice...but i can't get used to it's look. I rather have a classic look to it...my next step is checking out some of them X Speed Pro D/S drivers by cobra. Other than that I don't know. I guess I will look at the new Titleist heads. Any suggestions/comments will be greatly appreciated!
  14. I still can't believe Tommy qualified for the Wachovia. He's playing with VJ right now, hope he learns something! Oh, and I personally think fat man is leaving next.
  15. DD is a totaly bonehead ahahaha. Guess the pressure just got to him. Wow go Tommy, let's hope he makes the cut, does well, and makes some money.
