  1. Going to get a $40 driver fitting Saturday...hope this guy knows his stuff.. http://www.leathermangolf.com/club-fitting.php Some guy named Curtis Eudy......anybody know this guy?
  2. Yeah that 13 degree SQ2 does feel amazing...and the ball flight is like a rocket..... I think I am going to considering getting a different/stiffer/shorter shaft put in the driver...??? I wish I was rt handed as I could demo quite a few of them........
  3. So....I have a Cobra S2 driver 9.5 with stock stiff shaft. I also have a SQ2 13 3 wood with an aftermarket Aldila X-stiff shaft. I bought both clubs used and that is the way they came.... My question is why do I get a nice boreing flight with the 3W but when I hit the Cobra I get this super high flight with hardley any roll once it hits the fairway? I hit they 3W about 260 and I hit the driver a little less... Is it the shaft maybe? Like most looking to get the most distance that I can, but don't understand why i hit the 3W better/father since it has more loft and a small steel head..........seems like my ball flight just hangs in the air with the driver and the flight is not peircing at all....
  4. FWIW...I cant' tell much different from my old King Cobra's...keep in mind I am about 25 or so HC. I can hold the green with all the clubs as I have a high ball flight....and I did not gain any distance with them, i hit them just as far. THe club head is bigger than my old KC2 were, but as far as feel, they both feel the same when i hit them flush....... I would hit a couple of sets and see what you like..I am left handed and don't have that luxury.
  5. I got a set...I had a set of King Cobra 2 oversized from back in the day and a set of Nike Split back VR also....I loved the 12 year old King Cobras, and I guess the Nike's were too advanced for my skil level.... Bottom line is they are long and forgiving......I also think the look good but the black is starting to wear off on them pretty fast. They are easy to hit and are probally like most GI irons......
  6. the nike's are about 3 to 4 degrees more loft per club, when comparing to most GI irons. Since they are not GI irons I guess that makes sense....
  7. i see...i just thought that since the nike's have about 4 more derees of loft per clubs, maybe bending them 2 degrees might help out...
  8. it maybe a dumb post...(looking for knowledge). I guess what I am trying to say is now for a 165 yard shot I would need to hit a 5 or 6 iron as apose to a 7 iron, which I may not be a confident hitting a lower iron.... I was just looking for more distance per club....sounds like it might be a bad idea???
  9. yeah i would agree.....however, not it forces me to hit a club i would be less confident with....(if that makes sense)
  10. Long story short, I hit these clubs about 15yds shorter per club than my old set. each club is about 4 degrees more loft than my old set Would it make sense to maybe bend each club about 2 degrees (i would also get my lie adjust if needed)???
  11. Since I lost about 15 yrds per club....I was thinking about getting them bent 2 degrees each....thoughts????
  12. I got a set of the vr split cavties as well...i am about a 25+. I have found them hard to hit myself and have lost about 15yrds per club in distance. I am on the fence on if I am going to keep them or not.....I got rid of a set of king cobra 2 over size that i have had for about 12 years. TO OP, have you found them hard to hit or lost any distance?
  13. Yeah, no doubt. Trust me I don't want to buy new clubs...like I said i had the old set for 10+ years. I think the loft difference has effected my perception...maybe. I might just get them bent..since they are forged.......
  14. Well........i have the irons on fleeBay.......I am hoping they don't sell (as I hate to give up on stuff). If they do sell I am getting the new S3 irons, however I do like the ap1/2..... I think I am going to just sit tight and see if I can progress with them........ However I am toying with getting a membership at a local course.....range/unlimited golf...etc.
  15. Not determine to spend money..i had my cobras for 13 yrs...i ran across a deal on the nike's and jumped on them....i got them cheap so i could sell them and recoup most of my money or at least that was the plan...if i did not like them to ditch them......I keep most of my stuff a very long time. I just went from hitting a 7-iron 170 to 150 and felt it was a "culture shock"....as I was not expecting that at all. I guess it was my ignorance....
  16. Belive it or not...my short game is not bad at all....i am an avg at best putter. my driver is either 275 middle of fairway or in the woods.....LOL. (just a fact) Iron play i thought was pretty decent until recently (since i got the new clubs a month ago)....could just be in my head... There are alot of reason I rarely break 110 but just wanted to focus on if the irons were OVER my head or not.....
  17. Understood....i total agree. I just wanted to get some toughts from a different view point. As far as lessons I have seen guys go to like a golf tech and people take a less from a local pro and not get much feedback.........you just get the same info..head down, arm straight and on plane...etc. Same stuff we have seen on tv/heard for 100 years........ Like I said i have not had a lesson so i can't speak from first hand experience....
  18. Your are right in some aspects.....numbers don't lie but can be very deceiving....... I doubt if you saw me hit you would say i was a terrible ball striker....
  19. I went to Dicks today and looked at the S2 and S2 max... I hate to say this but they are not pleasing to the eye, i don't like the thick topline and they just seem way to "clunky". That is what I like about my old Cobra 2 a thiner club and a thiner top line....might just get another set on ebay...LOL. I do like the apperance at address of the Nike's....... I see cobra is coming out with some S3 in the next few weeks... E9 Face Technology™ and multi-material design combine to optimize all-around performance in each individual iron. "The S3 irons are about better performance through technology. Our new E9 Face Technology provides the distance, feel and forgiveness golfers want from every one of their irons." I think I am bias to cobras and might look into getting these....... I hate to say this but I am not that bad a ball striker.....just my score does not reflect my game....LOL. Also, the Nike's are about 3 to 4 degree more loft...IE Nike PW=47, Cobra=43.........i would say that would result in a loss of distance.....IMHO.
  20. Yeah, that is why i bought them becasue there were supposed to be pretty forgiving.....that and the smooking deal i got on them.......
  21. I hate to admit ..........1.5 months in the cold.......LOL. But like I said I noticed loss of distance and poor shot quality.....pretty much instantly....
  22. I would concur 100%, that is why i was thinking about moving to more "forgiving" irons. Since I lost more distance and don't seem to hit the ball as well, I was just trying to make things "easier". But did not want to jump the gun too soon. I am not taking the feedback wrong in any way!
  23. I hope he did not take my responce as being nasty, I am looking for as much feedback as possible.
  24. Oh yeah, that is cool also...i never said i was good. I have shot an 86 before that was my best...but that was about 7yrs ago. I stoped playing for about 5 then picked the sport back up 2 yrs ago. I will be the first to admit I may benefit from a lesson or two but I am hard headed and only like to do what feels comfortable.....i dont want to waste anybody time.
  25. thanks for your responce......next
