Yet another GigaGolf question...
Angera replied to LostSquirrel's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just wondering what you mean by "reliability"... Do you mean reliability in the club? Or reliability in the company? I ask because I have some Gigagolfs. They've performed nicely, but I guess I'm still waiting for one of the heads to fly off. I still can't believe I took the risk on clone clubs. Tell you what though... if they last, I'm never buying brand-name again. Economic times are tough, and it's hard to find good used clubs. -
I'm considering a set of these bad boys and was wondering if anyone has had any personal experience with them... How was your experience? Good? Bad? I'm about a 25 handicap (17 if I really focus, 13 if I cheat ) and I do have a pretty wicked slice. Now, I realize it's the Indian and not the arrow, but this Indian needs all the help he can get. I figure I'd keep my old set to practice on (which are standard), but use the said TMs for fun. Again, please share with me you experience with this TaylorMade model.
-
I think they're all standard. All the clubs I'm using I got used, and I'm just assuming they're standard.

I have freakishly small hands for a man of 26-years of age. Anyway, today while I was hitting a quick 9 holes, I noticed that sometimes while in my swing the club wobbles. Regardless how tight I grip the club, I still get a wobble. I've never noticed it before, but I'm guessing it's always been there. ANYWAY, I was thinking maybe I should get smaller grips. Someone told me it might actually help my slice. (It's bad!) I'm just wondering what you all think. Has your game improved by getting smaller (or bigger) grips?

Who Manufactured the "Tour Model III Evolution" Clubs?
Angera replied to Angera's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks. I tried the ol Google, but didn't find anything. -
For maybe 13 years, I've had a set of irons that are "Tour Model III Evolution". Does anyone have any idea who manufactured them? Knowing what I know now, I bet they are probably knockoffs of Pings or something like that. They've actually have help up quite well, except for the 7 iron which met its demise a few years back. I bought them used, if I recall correctly. Just random curiosity.

Durability on GigaGolf, Pinemeadow, and Hireko.
Angera replied to Angera's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
In regards to the foundries, I think that's true for the most part, but I've browsed the interweb a lot in the last few months, and there's a lot of junk for sale out there. The GigaGolfs and the Hirekos seem legit, but buyer beware with some of that other stuff! And thanks for the info on Pinemeadow. I've read a lot of the reviews on their website, and something that keeps popping on the reviews is that the "head cracked after a few months or so". But reading that someone has had long-term success with their clubs is making me rethink Pinemeadow. I've had a MacGregor driver for about 12 years now... maybe I'm a little spoiled that the things is still performing, but I'm kinda hoping to replicate that. -

Thanks for the info. I take it you work for Hireko... But, I do like what I've read on Hireko. I might be pulling the trigger on one of their wedges soon. -
Thanks everyone! Again, I kinda already knew most of this stuff, but it's making much more confident reading all of the suggestions. I'm excited about playing with different clubs then the ones I've had for over a decade! I see myself doing a mix of things. I've already bought a couple of name-brand hybrids from Callaway's Pre-Owned shop (ironically, neither were Callaway clubs ). And I also think I'm going to complete the GigaGolf iron set. I love the iron I bought from them-- it just feels so good! And I'm thinking about a wedge I saw on the Hireko website. I'm still looking for another hybrid (about an 18 or 19 degree). I found a name-brand one on the 3ballsgolf website I like, I just need to be a man a pull the trigger!
-
Yep, I've read up a lot on Hireko. In fact, I'm about ready to pull the trigger on on of their wedges!
-
Thanks, I came across Golfworks a few weeks ago. I can see myself using them. I'm not a club maker, but I like that they do do assembly.
-
I've always wanted to own some Pings. I've played with 'em, just never "owned" any Pings. Hey, if anyone want to send me there's at no charge, I'm interested.

Nelson is the name of the town I live in. It's a village of about 500 people. I'm a member of the Country Club, and I know for a fact that we don't have a pro shop. There is a community south of there about 15 miles (the town where my job is) that I think might have a pro shop, or something close to it. Hastings, about 50 miles north of me and the only place with an actual population, has a pro shop, but I hardly ever make it up there. If you got any suggestions, I'm willing to hear them. I've been golfing for about 15 years, but the last few years have been very sporadic. Late last summer I started golfing again semi-regularly, and totally have the golfing fever now! I just do it for fun. Some of the clubs in my bag are the some ones I learned on 15 years ago, so it's time for an upgrade.

How much does fitness help you out on the golf course
Angera replied to franky21's topic in Fitness and Exercise
I am in no way "in shape", but I have recently started to exercise and eat better, and I've noticed that I have more energy while golfing. It seems like anything cardio could only help your golf game. -

I've looked at and have considered that club. I've spent a lot of time looking at this stuff. -

That's the type of 9-iron I got from GigaGolf, exact same model. Just wanted to try them out. Glad to hear the can take a beating. I'm not a new golfer, but sometime I play like one. -

Thanks. That's the kind of info I was looking for. I'll take into consideration that it was 6-8 years ago, and that it was only one club. Just wondering if anyone had any experiences like that. -

I've read a few reviews where something like that was an issue. They have great customer service, but there was a problem with __________. Was it just that one club that one time? -

Three years? For the GigaGolf price that's pretty good news. I've been using the same irons for almost 15 years and they're finally starting to poop out on me. I came across GolfWorks recently. They are another company I'm considering. Thanks. -

Angera replied to Angera's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yeah, I know. I wrote about that in my original post. I've been doing the 'used' route for over a decade. I'm not a new golfer, just interested in these brands. -
Before I write another word, let me just make clear that this is NOT a "Clone Club vs. Name-brand club" thread. I've been reading some of the older threads and I know it's a sour subject. And since I'm new, I don't want to beat it into the ground further. Basically, I just want to know about the quality of these clubs. For those who have actual experience with the brands in question, what can you tell me about the durability on these clubs? How long do they last? At these prices, 2-3 years out of these clubs would please me. I know the resale value is low with these clubs, but again, at these prices you're really not eating that much $$$. I really can't find anything negative about these brands. Both GigaGolf and Pinemeadow have outstanding ratings at Bizrate. And Hireko had that writeup in Gold Digest. And I don't care what people think about the clubs in my bag. Not one bit. If these clubs are what they seem, I've found what I'm looking for. Fellas, I'm on a budget. I work in radio, and once you get past the Howard Sterns and the Rush Limbaughs, radio pay sucks. I love radio, but I don't have a lot of money to spend. I've basically played with used name-brand clubs my whole life. I'm sick of it. I want some NEW clubs. And I really only play casually and for fun, and let's just say I have a high handicap. Spending $1000 on clubs would be stupid for me. I've read up on these brands, and they 'seem' legit. And fact, I bought a 9-iron from GigaGolf a few weeks ago just to try it out. I really like it. I'm just curious about the durability of the clubs. Again, this is NOT a clone club vs. name-brand club thread. I'm just looking for more info on the brands in question.

This thread is way old, so me posting on it is pointless... but I'm bored. I bought a GigaGolf GX922 9 iron a few weeks ago just to try the GigaGolf product. I honestly expected it to be a piece of crap, but I'm very surprised with the quality. I have played with the Callaway X-22 they're supposedly modeled after, and let me say that the GigaGolf's feel pretty close to them. I'm not going to go as far and say that the quality is "just as good" as a Callaway, but there is quality with the GigaGolf brand. "Clone" is kind of a confusing name to give to it. I think of the GigaGolf stuff as "generic" clubs. Callaway makes enough money. I don't feel bad one bit playing with these clubs. With my budget, lack of skill, and the fact that I only play for fun, the GigaGolf stuff may just be what the Doctor ordered.

I stumbled upon Rockbottomgolf.com awhile back. I guess I kind of dismissed it for some reason. Now I know to take the place seriously. Thanks. And I'll check out Globalgolf.com

No, not really. Technically, I've been playing golf for about 17 years or so, but the last 8 years have been on very sporadic occasions. Last summer I started to golf more regularly and decided over the winter that wanted to 'seriously' pick up golf again. The clubs I've had forever still work for the most part, but I'm here to see what type of equipment is out there and maybe pickup a few things that might help my game. I don't live anywhere near a pro shop or anything (we have a 9 hole course, that's it), so I depend greatly on what info I can find online. Expect me to ask a lot of questions about the certain brands that are out there.
