  1. I don't think I could get a complete set of clubs with a proper fit for $300(a pro that fits me for the clubs will likely try to sell me big name expensive equipment). Also, I would need to buy a bag. I love the idea of getting fitted properly for clubs...but there is no way I can get fitted and get a complete set with a bag for $300. And I cannot afford to shell out much more than that at the moment. I will hopefully come to love the game very much in the future...and when I get better, I will invest in the good stuff that is professionally fitted for me. Like I said...I am just looking for something to get me going. And the lengths will be fine. They are pretty long. Thanks for the input though.
  2. Hello folks, I am a total beginner(never played a round yet in my life). Still working on my swing at the range. The clubs I am using are very old. They used to belong to my grandfather. They are probably 30+ years old at least. I am about 6' 4" tall...and these clubs are too short for me...and they are outdated. I am not going to use them anymore, because I think they are doing more bad for me than good. I am not looking to jump in and buy top of the line equipment just yet, but I found a new set of clubs on ebay and would like some of your opinions. They are Mitsushiba XR-5. Here is a link to the ebay listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd;=1 I have been hearing a lot, that hybrids are easier to hit than long irons for most beginners. So this listing kinda jumped at me. The lengths are all perfect. They are nice and long for me. My father has a set that I have used once, and all the lengths of his clubs match up with the lengths of the clubs in the auction. His clubs felt great, so I figure these will do. Like I said, I am not looking for high end stuff just yet, just something better than what I have at the moment. Does this set look any good? Mitsushiba say they have been making clubs for 40 years. I have never heard of them...maybe some of you have? Sorry this is so long, but I would really appreciate any input. Thanks!
  3. Well I ended up buying a swingsetter from my local golf shop. I can honestly say that it really helped me out. I was skeptical at first...but said, what the hell...so I bought it...about a week ago. If you buy it online or from the TV infomercial, it comes with a DVD that has drills and specific instructions from Leadbetter for you to practice. Since I bought mine at the golf shop, it did not come with a DVD...so i had to go online and get it(free) from the swingsetter website. I am still waiting for it. But just from swinging it for a week, it has really helped. I went to the range today, and I hit the ball straight more than I ever have. I used to have the nastiest slice ever...I still slice it but it is very miniscule...they are still worthy of the fairway. I hit a couple this afternoon past the 300 yd. marker. I was soo happy. I am still needing a lot of help though...I hooked a couple...sliced a few pretty drasticly. I am hoping that when that DVD comes in...it will give me a few more pointers to work on...so I can be more consistent. Later! Corey
  4. They sent them to you free of charge?
  5. Does anybody have any opinions on this device? I saw an infomercial on the golf channel for it yesterday. Looks nifty...but can it/does it work? The Swing Setter by David Leadbetter. Thanks
  6. Hello all. Just joined. I am a beginner in the sport. I haven't even played a round yet! That is how much of a beginner I am. My dad has been golfing for about 20 years...and he just bought me a membership at the local club(for now I am just practicing at the range...and I will probably be taking a few lessons soon). So...looks like this is my new favorite sport! Later, Corey
