  1. Hey guys i really need some help... I'm struggling with something recently that I have never really had trouble with before. I made some swing changes that upped my ball speed with my driver from 154 to 161 plus on trackman. This swing i am producing an average of 3.8 degrees upward attack...neutral face angle to a very slight draw with in an in to out .5 to 1 degree club path. Dynamic loft is 14.5 degrees Driver spec is 8.5 degree static loft driver with a 2.5 degree open face at address I am using a 75 gram Martrix black tie shaft that is fairly low torque ...3.2 or 3.3 i think. Stiff shaft and a Razr fit extreme head set at 8.5 degrees and 1 degree open. I strike the ball just above center and very slightly toward the toe almost every time ... I am fitting at an Edwin watts here on a track man and using their callaway hex chrome balls for the fitting. Checked my numbers on both of thier units and found identical results. and my buddy was hitting with me with the same driver and his numbers were very similar but with much lower spin. So the trackman units are probably fine. I went from 2400 -2500 spin and poor contact to this new setup and everything seems to be in line....except now my spin rates on every clubi have is spinning up driver is now averaging 3600 rpm if my dynamic loft is 14.5 and AOA is 3 then my spin loft is 11.5 which should be perfect. So one question i have is that since my spin loft is fine making adjustments to the shaft wont help...correct?...Alll i can do is hit more up at the ball switch driver heads and balls ...right? I don't know and am pretty frustrated right now. Gained all the speed but no distance in the end. I would really appreciate some knowledgeable advice on what might be happening in this swing. thanks Adam exhibit A.
  2. I've been Playing Golf for: 5yrs My current handicap index or average score is: My typical ball flight is: recent switch to draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: fat Hey guys been working on the swing a lot over the past few months. believe it or not i could score ok with the old swing on the right but it was inconsistent at best...always been saved by approach and short game. my miss was a cut or slice...now its the other way a round and I much prefer it. New swing allows me to hit consistent draw shots with better distance and control. I just want to make sure i'm not grooving in another issue somewhere. The new swing is on the left...the forward press is deceiving because i'm hitting in deep grass so i set the club up a few inches behind the balls sized disc i am swinging at. Anyway I think it looks better but i had a guy say i had too much spine tilt...I'm not sure he knows what he is talking about so i thought id get some more opinions on the matter. thanks for the time Adam
  3. Hey everyone I'm having some trouble with my right toe(I"m a right handed golfer) and am having a good amount of pain after a long range session and or a round of golf. I've been told that the pointed toes of my golf shoes in conjuction with repetitive pressure on the right toe are causing the issue. I have had some noticeable swelling at the base toe joint and I have been told that if ignored that i could end up with bunions ect. My shoes need to be wider and with a more Box toe shape than the traditional pointed toe dress shoe look. I dont have much to choose from locally so i was wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction. Looking online i see that the street shoe versions that come in wide or EE sizes Oakleys ripcord golf shoes Footjoy casual contour I also would like to hear from anyone who has had the same issue and how you resolved it ...custom insoles, orthotics,,,,,amputations whatever. Thanks for the responses Adam
  4. Well that's good to hear. I just had it cut down and inch and will pick it up this afternoon. Will probably take a few swings on their track man to see what i can see.
  5. Hey everyone been reading a lot lately about driver length and a sort of threshold between gaining distance and controlling the club I would like to have a slightly more inside out path and was thinking considering my height that It might be a good move. My six iron carries 185-190 which isn't the longest but I'm not afraid to loose a little on the driver distance wise if i can gain some control. I've also read a few horror stories where golfers have cut down the shaft and it never felt right again. Being the the Ahina is a slightly stiffer shaft for its "rating" I just want to know if anyone out there has done it and how did i work out for you. thanks Adam
  6. new numbers today...and i rechecked the swing speed on the track man...cant spend a lot of time on thier unit but 5 swings all were in 89-92 mph range
  7. Also i agree these are incredibly smooth shafts and I am also heavy shaft player..Tries lighter like the PX but I cant stand that feel.
  8. Lucous Looking over the trackman data. Which does measure the club i definetly see what you are getting at. 92mph club getting them 127 ball speed my supposed 84 mph club is getting me 123 ball speed My real club head speed is more like 89 or so...again the foresight measures the ball only. And all other numbers match. thanks again for the response. Adam
  9. Lucious thanks for the post. It seems you know quite a bit on the subject..I probably should have given more information. In response i'm currently playing KBS tour x flex with Mizuno mp 59 heads in standard lofts. These are pretty weak lofts by today's standards I am told and considered a "players" iron/mbblade that aren't considered "hot" by any means. I don't blame you for making that assumption I would think the same. Theses numbers come from a foresight system. It takes ball measurements only and "guestimates" clubhead speed. When on a trackman, which does measure those aspects, i have a higher swing speed generally. All the other numbers match up to the trackman very well. I'm currently playing a Ping Anser Diamana Ahina in S flex driver avg swing speed 105-110 My dispersion was kept low by taking these half to 3/4 feeling swings When using my current kbs tours x flex i spin the ball quite a lot. 6400 + or - on a relatively delofted shot...and more if I hit it square to open with high launch and I loose a lot of distance. I've never hit mid irons with such low spin as I saw in the images you see. Took some adjusting to get back to a square face that wasn't delofted to kill the spin. Once i did I was seeing decent angles from 42-44 and higher, which are lower than my current irons and probably averaging around 5000 rpms...I was just hoping someone with similar number or knowledge of ball behavior with those two figures might have some insight as to what i would find when that hits a green. I notice that the trackman stats actually match the lpga avg for five iron HA! Just with 20 yds more carry. Maybe i'm in the wrong forum.
  10. Ha! thanks...but those monitors shrink down the field pretty well so the shots all look pretty good ...there are a couple in there that are a full 10 yds offline + or - I was hitting them straight...just worried if they are every gonna stop rolling.
  11. I've been Playing Golf for: 4 My current handicap index or average score is:-3 My typical ball flight is: low Hey everyone. I'm looking at switching down to a stiff in ctapers. My current numbers are good as far as spin and launch but my dispersion is pretty large. I have x shafts in my kbs tours. But i want to shrink my misses and dispersion. The numbers below are a session today trying stiff Ctapers in a 6 iron with nice smooth "half feeling" swing. I had very nice dispersion notice the small white cirlce on the last pic....and this includes my outliers. My concern is how low the spin is. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on spin numbers vs decent angle...anyone else experience these numbers...will these shots one hop stop??? Release out ...please let me know best Adam The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push slice Videos:
  12. Yes ..of course i spin the heck out of a 10.5...I hit a 9.5 with the diamans ahina shaft when i chose this club, which also has the ahina, and it had a 14- 16 degree launch. i guess my first step would be to just to tee up a bit and swing up a bit more. Good to know on the balls. I play the nike one tour a occasionally myself. They test at almost the same spin rate as the prov1 so thats good to know. Your numbers are "similar" to what i was getting before i went down to the 8.5 degree...a lot more carry, less roll out, and it got up there really high with the loft and even more because of the increased backspin and it was heavily affected by the kansas wind which i hate btw. thanks again for your time, Hittem straight! Adam
  13. Thanks for the reply. I guess I've heard mixed information on how high the launch should be but there is some controversy on carry vs roll so what do I expect. For you questions. I have an 8.5 ping ans er turned up to a 9 degree loft. I agree with you on the roll out and I wasn't aware you could adjust that on the system. I bet they have it on fast so everyone thinks they are doing better than they ever will here in Kansas. We have zoysia fairways mostly and they don't give u a ton of roll as you may well know. I suppose i could also open the face a bit,,,as you can see i favored a draw bordering on a hook it this trial today. Have you ever switched balls when using your friend's system,,if so how much difference did it make if any that was appreciable? The guy at golfsmith said these things are very accurate ...has that been your experience going from the LM to the course? thanks Adam
  14. Yes i think i was a bit. I just got back from a range session on the foresight. I think my main issue stemmed from poor takeaway. Started rotating my hips less to get more torque and keep myself on plane and it seemed to work. Kept thing more compact and powerfull....Once i got warmed up anyway ;) Now I just have to get the hang of it i think to bring the dispersion down.
  15. Guys I just want to get some opinions on what you see. I "think" i see. A slightly below plane takeaway over rotation of the hips I'm seeing a lot of shots missed to the right and a few cuts or slices thrown in. These videos represent some changes from that swing to attempt to get back on track but I want some more opinions. thanks for the time, Adam
  16. I've been Playing Golf for: 5 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 5.2 My typical ball flight is: straight to cut mid trajectory to high The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push/ fade Videos:
  17. hey everyone. I currently use a Superfast 2.0 9.5 Degree TP model. Get good distance around 275-300yds but with a lot of hard work have made some major swing improvements that have made this clubs flight seem a bit high. I'm looking at the Rocketballz tp as a replacement because its close to the the superfast 2.0 tp in design as far as I can tell but with the adjustability that will allow me to hone in my loft for this new swing. My problem is that I'm not a big believer in launch monitor unnatural indoor swings hitting balls that you don't use on the course. I was hoping to hear from some of you that own or have tried the 2.0 tp model and can compare it to the rocketballz tp. There are a lot of threads on the rbz but not as many on the tp models.
  18. I totally agree with you. This was my first experience seeing myself on camera and its really opened my eyes...Should have done it years ago.
  19. 'Ill try that...my knees are made of bone and cartilage where Shawn are sill putty apparently.
  20. Hey everyone... I just came upon Shawn's video's this week and have been trying to implement his techniques over the last couple of days. I've not had any lessons, it shows,,,,I just watch and try to feel my way. Five years in to this game and I have days that I'm on fire and shoot low mid 70's and days that I can barely hit the ball. Due to the fact, at least I think, that I was always hitting the ball instead of letting the club do the work. (too much manipulation) My problem in trying to implement Shawn's technique is staying in my stance...and related to that is knee pain afterwards. Hyperextension or I'm just not flexible I have attached a video that shows my first couple of swings the day after studying Shawns video. Then at the end a slow motion video of where I ended the day. You'll notice my poor balance when trying to "throw the club to the target" in my initial swings... Not sure what questions to ask here but hope for a little feedback on what I should do next. thanks, Adam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBGcjJ63gos
  21. Bunker putt I know exactly what you mean at least I think I do... and I have been freezing my hips. I found my loaded swing very long but so unpredictable. Length isn't my problem and I don't care about it like i did when i first started. I just want the consistency of my short game to extend to my long irons and driver. I believe that one of my problems is listening to to many tips I find it way to easy to change what i've been doing all along at the drop of a hat (which i suppose wont hurt if I get some help from a pro) and constantly changing to many aspects when I really dont have the fundamentals yet. These responses are awesome. I've really got to get some time with an instructor.
  22. Wow...thanks guys... thats really interesting about how the camera reads the image. Hard to say what my normal shot shape is becuase up until this year i would tend to miss right. Came out fresh this year and 8 rounds in to the season all misses are pulls or slight hooks which i prefer to a slice ...but still. and yes i'm all shoulders and body at least thats what i'm told... I'm certain some lessons would help I think I've gotten as far as I can as a self taught golfer. Just have to find an affordable way to get that done in the KC area!
  23. Hey just thought i'd ask...and hopelfully some of you actually know what you are talking about ;) . It seems to me that Im having a casting issue but I just wanted to be sure it wasn't something deeper as far as shaft stiffness ect.
