  1. I have been having a lot of trouble setting up with my clubface slightly open. It seems that when I loosen my left hand and rotate the club open it feels very awkward and seems to work its way back square through my swing! I swing in- to-out and prefer to hit a push draw, but with a square face at impact this turns to a hook. I play callaway X18r's with the original ribbed grips, can the grips be the cause of my problems? It seems to make sence to me, but I never like blaming my equipment for my problems. Anyone else have a similar problem with ribbed grips? Thx in advance for any input/advise.
  2. I currently hit Callaway X18r's with unified steel shafts. I have been struggling lately hitting consistent shots, now that i have been progressing and upping my swing speeds a bit. I found this reciently after recording my swing. Is this normal flex? Or can this be the cause if my problems? This is actually mild flex compared to some other video clips I have shot. Thx in advance for any input. http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/x412/ncologerojr/e12190f9.jpg
  3. I have been working on my swing, mostly fighting a hook which I have narrowed down to my grip. Since these videos I have adjusted my grip which has brought my hands closer to center at address and increased my shaft angle just a bit (from approx 48 degrees to approx 53). I also noticed in these videos the extreme flex in my shaft during downswing, is it flexing too much? Any tips/advise is appreciated. Thx 4 Iron: 7 Iron:
  4. Thx for the reply, I know it is not a great video. I ran out and shot it in frustration lol. I was hoping that my plane was not the problem. I am also questioning the offset on my irons possibly having a play in this. I currently play Callaway x18r's standard lie/loft and length and have been fighting this hook for a while. I noticed the hook really starting around the same time I started improving my ball contact. Since then I have played several rounds with my father's Taylor Made R7 TP's and I was not hooking the ball at all, I was mostly hitting straight shots or a slight draw. Could there be any truth to that?
  5. I have been striking the ball very well with great distance, but I have begun fighting a hook. I have tried adjusting my grip without much success. I am beginning to think that my swing may be to flat. Possibly caused by incorrect spine angle. I am not very tall (5'5") and I have always seemed to struggle with spine angle. Here is a quick clip I shot for some reference. This ball ended up with about a 30 yard hook. Thanks in advance for any advise/tips.
  6. First off, I've been lurking around this forum as a guest for a while now, great stuff! I've been playing my Callaway X18R's for about 3 seasons now, and in my opinion they have served me very very well. I can not recommend a better set of irons for the price. However I have been putting in the practice time and my ball striking and overall play has progressed to the point that I feel it may be time for a new set of irons. I'm looking for a set of irons that I will be able to play for the next few years or so, and continue to progress with. Basically irons suited for a mid to low handicapper. My local Dicks has the Callaway X24H's currently for $599, and will give me $200 for trading in my very used X18R's. I think a new set of X24H's for $399 is a pretty good deal. Anyone have any input on the X24's? Are these more of a players club, or more of a game improvement iron? Thx in advance for any advise/input.
