  1. So I went to the range today and realized that I was standing to far away from the ball making me reach to far in and hitting it off the hozel. B). As said earlier in the post, I was trying to over exagerate the wrist break causing me to slice the hell out of the ball. C). I also realized that keeping my left elbow in more to my body allows me to make a cleaner swing plane when addressing the ball. Thanks for all your help, repetition is what is needed now as when I hit the ball well it feels like im not even putting any effort into it! I have a lesson this coming Saturday and will throw up a video of the swing! igblack
  2. So I have been taking some lessons recently and have really formed my swing...so my coach seems to think. Even though I am still striking the ball on the hozel, he thinks that the swing is fundementally there. Before my most recent lesson, i was hitting 8 iron about 155, 6 iron about 175-180 and 5 iron about 190. when i got to my lesson last saturday, my coach told me to i needed to hinge my wrists more in the back swing to create more downward force on the ball. this got rid of the stiff wrists and feeling like i was swaying alot but also created a new problem. I cannot seem to stop shanking the ball or hitting "line drives". it feels like i am hitting rocks (not being able to close the club face quick enough). Help! what to do??? I have tried a few different grips but dont want to over compensate, i have tried to hinge my wrists only a little. when i go back to not hinging my wrists, the swing i once had comes back! What do you all think? Thanks
  3. Do I need to straighten my legs a little more or make sure that at address, that I can drop my club to my kneecap? What are some good drills that I can use to make sure this doesn't happen? What have some of you done? Thanks, Ian
  4. I have the same issue! I always drop my hands on the backswing and then that leads to hitting off the neck (hozel) of the club resulting in a shank... what have you done to fix this? I am trying to keep my hands out side of my right foot just enough to keep the swing on plane. This might help you. Also, try to bend your knees and keep your back straight. This will help with alignment and ball trajectory. Hope this helps, Ian
  5. So lately I have been hitting the ball of the neck of the club. I believe this to be because I am dropping my hands below my torso. This brings me to believe I am not in plain on my swing. How can I stop dropping my hands, or what can I do to stop dropping my hands when I take my back swing? Thanks, Ian
  6. going back to the wedge...i think that i might be putting the ball to back in my feet. i tend to deccelerate when i come into it thinking that i will always shank the ball and send it screaming across the green. i guess it is sort of a mental thing?!?!?!? its funny how the littlest things can sometimes make the biggest differences!
  7. The approach wedge it is! Also when I tend to chip within like 30 yards, I always seem to get way under the ball and do a flop shot...to cure this should I close the club face and take shorter swings? The bump and run isn't really a problem.
  8. After aying yesterday, I realized that with the wedge shots from around 100 yards I tend to leave the club face way open and completely shank the ball. It is hard to keep my wrists from breaking wide open. Should I be breaking them or trying to keep them locked from this distance? I can hit my 56 degree about 110 max... Thanks
  9. I can see where you are coming with regarding not using a putter. Using just your hands to roll the ball will give me the ultimate feel that i need to finally hit the putter. The other issue is wedges from like 100 yrds out...what a pain in the trap! Thanks for the tip
  10. Putting inconcistency on the golf course is a really bad thing...every time i step up the the ball to put i find myself jabbing at it or hitting the wall or what not. it seems that im afraid to hit the ball to the hole with a little authority. does anyone have any good tips to get down a nice solid putting stroke? Thanks in advance!
  11. Thanks Makana81, I have also used this trick but I guess it is time to go back to the old ways I was taught to swing. This will also help me probably slow my swing speed down and make it more methodic and aligned! I was thinking that it might have been the higher offset on my new clubs, I might need more of a blade.... Thanks!
  12. Could this be that the offset in my Callaway razr x's is to much of a beginner club? I strike the ball pretty well and feel like i might need something of a forged iron???
  13. I have been playing golf since I have been 8 years old. As of lately I have not been able to hit my irons without having a bit of a strong fade. What is going on??? I keep my left arm straight and turn at the pelvis for more tourqe in my down swing. I hit my 5 iron about 200 yards but at the tail end it starts to fade strong... Help, I have tried several different grips and moving the ball around in my stance and cant figure out what is going on??? I seem to be hitting a push draw and a strong one at that. I feel like I have been trying to lift the ball in the air which is not a good thing because that adds a lot of un-needed energy and twists the planed swing. HELP! Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks, Ian
