  1. Thanks for the input. It has only happened once so far. And while we did not follow the rules exactly I feel we learned what to do the next time ( hopefully not anytime soon) The rules are there for a purpose and even if I had a copy in front of me at the time I dont think I would have been able to decide the corrrect thing to do. My son and I discussed wha to do if that happens again and will go forward from here. I appreciate all the responses and feel it is definatley a good topic to get input from more experienced golfers. Keith
  2. I hae to put a number in the registation about a handicap and it got me to thinking how do I get an actual handicap. I usually try to shoot under 100 (95-105) so would a 28 be about right? (72 par plus 28) I dont play often enough at the same course to get 10 rounds to average at this point, but anything under 100 is a good day on the course for me. Any suggestions as to how to get a "real" number? Keith
  3. This happened to my son playing a jr first tee event. The fist ball was way out of bounds over a house. The second one was closer to the line but we could not find it. We decided to have him drop and continue play as it was a course full of young kids 12-18 and time was a concern. Thanks for the replys. I havent played golf in many years and is good to get back into it. I just couldnt remember the correct thing to do. Will know next time (hopefully it wont happen in the near future). Keith
  4. What do yo do if you lose your tee shot out of bounds and then your provisional ball sails the same way. After looking for 5 min can you just drop and continue or do you hae to walk back to tee and hit another shot. How do you assess penalty strokes. Keith
