  1. I've been using a Daiwa putter for the past three years since I started playing. Now that I'm getting serious about golf, I'm taking a couple lessons and updating my very old clubs. Has anyone used this putter and tell me if it's worth it to update and get something a little newer like an odyssey. I'm still pretty new to the game so i don't know too much about how to go about purchasing/finding the right putter. In fact, I've never even tried another putter besides the Daiwa and the most I've been told about choosing a right putter is that it has to feel right in your hands and when you stroke the ball with it. I'm fine with this Dawia pro balance putter, but I'm not super confident when I get up to putt that eight to ten footer and I don't necessarily like how it feels on impact compared to some fo the softer faced putter I've tried a bit in pro shops and the like. Anyone have any experience on this putter and advice on hwo to go about choosing the right putter for you? Thanks
  2. I just went to the driving range and worked on my wedges and irons. I put some duck tape on the face of the club to see where I was hitting it. Whenever I had a crappy shot that I described above the indentation was always right on the heel of the club near the connection of the shaft. I think I've just been mishitting the ball. When I tried to reduce my backswing and not go so far back and follow through with a nice easy swing I noticed that my balls were flying a lot straighter and i was making solid contact on the face of the club. Thanks for the advice!
  3. Hi there, I went to the course yesterday and had the worst time with my irons and wedges. Usually those are the clubs I feel most confident and comfortable with but yesterday was just awful. I'm still new and have never gotten a lesson but plan on going to one in the following week now that I'm becoming more serious about golf. The ball would zoom out at a low trajectory to my right (i'm a righty) and just roll maybe 50 or so yards no matter what club I used. I was 75 yards from the hole and got my wedge out and the ball zooms off to the right and almost hit someone! I don't have a video of my swing, but what usually causes this type of problem? Is it because my grip isn't strong enough? Open club face? Not looking down on the ball? It was very frustrating trying to do a nice little wedge shot from 50 yards out and the ball zooming into the trees. :( Any tips are greatly appreciated.
  4. Hi there, I'm wondering if I should invest in a new pair of golf shoes or some used clubs. I've been golfing for the past three years pretty inconsistently. I really only play during the summer when I come back from school. Although i don't tend to play during the fall winter and spring i get on the course once every week and a half to two weeks during the summer. Since I've started playing I've always used the same clubs. They are all hand me downs and used golf clubs that are at least 15 to 20 years old except for my dad's Ping G10 driver which he won in promotion.(This club always looks extremely out of place in my bag). The clubs I'm using are pretty old and worn down, mostly the sand wedge which has lost any indication of having grooves. The clubs I would consider replacing are my triumph irons ranging from 3-9, my tony lema golden gate sand wedge, and my checkmate 50 degree wedge. If I decided to buy clubs I would buy used from my local pro shop and would try to stay below a total of $100. I have never worn a pair of golf shoes but always wondered if they are really that beneficial. If I decided to buy golf shoes I would try to spend no more than $80. So I guess the final question is which would be the smarter investment a pair of golf shoes or some clubs? Thanks
