Quick Run Down: 28 Male, best round was 103. Started playing golf for the first time in June of last year. Played about 20 rounds of golf or so. I have no Idea what these numbers and stats mean. I am looking to see what is good and what is bad about the picture below and any tips to get the numbers and stats to where they are optimal.Sorry for the quality as I took it with my Iphone. I will type out anything that was cut off below the picture. I use a 9.5 degree, Taylormade Burner 2.0 Stiff. I am left handed. Launch angle: 10 degrees Ball Speed: 174.21 mph Ball Path: Right 4 degrees Club Path: Inside Out 1.0 degree Club Face: Open 0.5 degree Carry: 286yards Bouce: 9 yards Roll: 13 feet 3" Total Distance: 299 yards Offline: 15.53 yards and I ended up in the rough by a few yards.

I am a lefty and I was getting used to playing my second shots from the left woods and have been working on ridding my slice. Now I am pulling the ball right and it is straight as an arrow. I am not sure if this is progress as I will be playing my second shots from the left woods. I have been trying to compensate for the pull left by aiming a little right, when I do so I hit it straight but cannot make good contact which causes me to hit the ball on the bottom heel of the driver making it go maybe 150 yards....what is making me pull it and why when I compensate and try to aim right I hit it straight but heel it? Help.

Looking for suggestions regarding my grip. I have been fighting a nasty slice since I took lessons . I started off by using the baseball grip for every club, after my lessons I switched to an interlocking grip. Ever since then my driver has been nothing but horrible slices but my irons improved drastically. I usually go to the driving range everyday to hit a bucket to try to work on my driver slice and decided today to go back to my baseball grip. I hit the ball straight and very long with my baseball grip but kept my interlock for irons. Now here is my problem... The golf pro who gave me lessons stated that I should use one grip for all my swings as it will make everything more consistent. Does anyone here disagree and think I can use a baseball grip for my driver and fairway woods but keep my interlock for irons? If I do choose to keep the baseball grip will this hinder my ability to progress in golf? Input is greatly appreciated! :)

What is the ruling if my drive lands in a large 6ft x 6ft puddle of water in the rough caused by the rain the night before? Water was about a 1/2" deep. I did not know what to do so I just played it....lets just say I spent the next 7 holes pretty wet lol. It took me 2 swings to get it out.

Does anyone use those blue lens golf sunglasses? I just bought a pair and haven't tried them yet. Do they improve anything?

Thanks for all the tips. I will try them all out as soon as the rain goes away.... Last night I was searching the internet for golf instruction videos and came across something I did not even notice about my grip. I did take one golf lesson last week and the pro showed me some basics which I have been trying to work on. When He and I went over my grip he showed me a few different styles. I went with a interlocking grip and proceeded to swing the club with this style. Anyway on the 3 videos I found on grip last night each one of them stated you place your bottom hand palm over your top hand palm thumb.....if this is correct I have never done this. I basically had my hands on the club almost like a hockey stick or baseball bat and interlocked....I cant wait to see if this might help me out.....before I do this I want to confirm with people on here if that is correct.....to place your bottom hand palm over top hand thumb?

Anyone know why I am burning a hole into my grip? Am I holding to tight? Do I have a bad grip on the club maybe....It is quite weird.

I rarely take a divot to be honest.....is that bad? When I do I guess it goes right. I do take a larger backswing with my driver if that is what your asking. I do swing my driver alot faster(harder) than my irons also.

So I almost broke 100 on my 7th round of golf in my life yesterday. I bought a sky caddie and really helped my game, I finished 103. My problem was my driving....what a mess it was. I hit 2 fairways through 18 holes! My slice is getting out of control. I hit a golf cart yesterday that was parked at the tee on the hole adjacent. I have tried everything to fix my slice. I am a lefty and everything is going left....not just a little left but I am hitting another fairway left. Am I hitting with the club closed or open to cause this? Any tips can try to fix it? What are the reasons for a slice? I did switch to my 3 wood to see if I could hit a fairway but I still sliced it but not nearly as bad. FYI I do not slice my irons, they are pretty straight....if anything I pull them right. My random question is this....I am a little embarrassed to ask it.... Why do I have a burn hole in the grip of my driver where I hold it....? Am I causing that much friction?.... Is this normal?

I get what you both have said and agree to a point. My only problem now is golf was enjoyable 3 days ago and not so much right now. I went to the driving range a lunch (35 min ago) and did not really enjoy myself. I felt like everything that was shown to me in one hour by the golf "pro" was hurried and perhaps a way to ensure I make another appointment.....I do understand the basics to which were shown to me but do not understand why I cannot hit the ball like I did prior to the lessons. My irons were hit with power and way better accuracy then after my lessons. My woods was long but all over the place prior to my lessons. Now, everything is weak and anywhere but straight. I tend to hit the ground prior to the ball, when I do connect its weak. Do you guys suggest another lesson or two with a new pro or go back to the same one? Or perhaps like the Garrett said....just read books and learn. I am a pretty athletic guy 6'2 200lb and played every sport I ever tried pretty well, its frustrating to drive the ball maybe 200 yards from averaging a minimum of 250 prior to my lessons. I have hit the ball into the 300 yard net at my local driving range, I know its in me to do it constant. I just thought this lesson would show me how to unlock the power I feel like I have and learn how to be accurate. I now feel like that lady from the Happy Gilmore movie who was driving the ball 3 feet and the pro "chubbs" was saying "thats good, its all in the hips".....I am leaning towards another lesson and new pro to be honest... suggestions?

Wow, I just went to the driving range at lunch and must have hit at least 200 balls....those lessons really screwed me up. I tried doing what the pro taught me yesterday and it felt so weird. I used to hit my irons flush and straight but my driver has always been all over now after the lessons its like I am 100 times worse. Prior to my lessons everything seemed so much simpler, now after my lessons there is so much to think about, ball placement, grip, stance, backswing, wrist hinge, hip turn, shoulder turn....please tell me I will get this soon! On the other hand the one out of 20 I did hit flush felt great and effortless but I do not feel as powerful as before. Sigh....

All of the shots hit were with the same driver. It is a 10.5deg tnt 460cc with a graffalloy blue reg shaft....felt like I just wrote something in another language there lol... I actually just had my first golf lesson last night and learned so much in a hour. I was told I was a upper body ball striker and was shown how to use my whole body to get more power and accuracy. I never knew hitting a little white ball was so technical...shoulder turns, hip swing, fallow through....I just walked up and tried to beat the piss out the ball....I cant wait to work on this to see how it improves my game.

I have played 5 rounds of golf in my life and all this year. I really caught the golf bug when I was dragged to a driving range and was out driving a family friend who shoots in the mid 80s. He told me that most people who have never held a club before do not drive a ball over 275 yards so I figured I had some undiscovered talent. Are these scores good for a first time golfer? 1.136 2.133 3.122 4.118 5.108 I kept an accurate score when I was playing as I wanted to see if I was getting better. This included playing it where it was, no dropping it so I had a better shot or mulligans. I am fiercely competitive and wanted to see what I could do. My next question is how accurate are the golf simulators? I decided to try one to see what my driver club speed was and average drive( as well as my max were) I was clocked at 103mph with an average of 264 yards.....now I was really confused by my max drive though....I was clocked at 94.7mph and 302yards....how is this possible? My last question(s) is about my shafts....do I require a stiff shaft or a regular? What will the shaft do for my distance and accuracy? Does it really matter for a new golfer?
