  1. So let me ask this...why does it amaze you? They're weak golfers, correct? So if they're weak golfers, then chances are they don't know as much about the game as someone like you with a 2 handicap. What may be common sense to you isn't to someone who isn't as well-versed or as experienced in the game. I just started playing and have played a whole 27 holes of golf. Would you be amazed and stupified by some of my club selections? I would say most likely you would...because YOU know better whereas a weaker golfer does not. I'm amazed that you expect weak golfers to be on par (no pun intended) with your level of understanding of the game and your level of common sense regarding the game. And btw, it is a GREAT game, lol. I love it. Can't believe it took me almost 36yrs to discover that.
  2. Was at my local Dunhams today and saw Hank Haney's instructional ESPN DVD. Is it worth buying for $15? Good tips and advice on there? Or stay away? I'd rather take personal lessons, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to afford them.

    demo club?

Nevermind. I found my answer. Sorry for the newb question. I know what a demo softball bat is, but those generally don't have any markings on them (no manufacturer, no name, no weight, etc). The club I'm looking at looks like a normal club.

    demo club?

If someone is selling a demo club, what does that mean? Thanks.
  5. Okay, gotcha. So losing the 3 and 4 irons would leave me with 5-9 irons and drop me to 12 clubs, leaving room for a 3-wood.
  6. Okay, gotcha. So just have the 5-9 irons and that would drop me to 12 clubs, leaving room for a 3-wood.
  7. I tried to reply once, but my post is being held (?) for some reason. I'll try again...in my bag now is a driver, 2-4 hybrids, 3-9 irons, pw, sw, and putter. Is that one too many?
  8. Sorry...I have a driver, 2-4 hybrids, 3-9 irons, pw, sw, putter.
  9. I've just picked up the game, and am trying to learn. In my bag, I have no fairway woods. Question is, do I need one? I have a three hybrids (2, 3, 4) and irons 3 and up. If you think I need to add one or two, can you tell me which ones and explain to me why? What will a fairway wood do that the hybrids won't? Also, if I have 2, 3, 4 hybrids, should I take any of my irons out? Sorry for all the new-guy questions that may seem like "duh!" questions to you and thanks for any help/advice.
  10. Just thought I'd drop in and say hello. I'm new to the board (well, duh!), but I'm also brand new to the game of golf. I'm almost 36 and just kinda picked up the game this summer. I played 18 holes with my boss and two co-workers with a set of LH rented clubs, and I had a good time. So my boss was at a garage sale in his neighborhood and saw a set of LH clubs for $20 and asked if I wanted them, and I said sure. The set came with a set of irons and wedges that are Callaway Fusion knock-offs (Turbo Power?), a Wilson Pro Staff RD driver, an Acuity RCX 4-hybrid, and a Dunlop putter. I've since added a pair of Nickent 3DX RC hybrids, an Odyssey White Hot 2-ball putter, and an FT9 driver (and was amazed at the difference in size between the heads of the FT9 and the Wilson). I've hit the driving range a couple of times and really enjoy playing, and I'll be hitting the links this weekend.
  11. Well, I'm very new to the sport (as a 36yr old, lol), so I hope to see some of those great deals on LH clubs in the future, lol.
  12. I just started playing golf, but have a couple of decent clubs in my bag. Thing is, it is very unlikely that I would ever ask anyone to try out a club or that anyone would ever ask me to try out a club...I'm a lefty. And judging by the dearth of golf gloves and golf clubs for lefties (as compared to RH), I'd say that very few players would be able to hit my clubs, LOL.
