  2. Good News, and worth every cent.. unfortunately I am in Europe and the last time I bought anything from Amazon in the US I got hit with importation taxes and the clubs cost me a lot more than if I'd have bought them here!
  3. I carry a RBZ driver and 3 wood plus RBZ 3 hybrid. I've found recently that the 3 wood is my go to club from the tee. Last week I just couldn't hit it straight. So I used my 3 hybrid to at least get the ball in play. I actually nailed one to over 200 Mtrs (220 yards) which is well up from the normal 160-170 (180 ish Yards) I hit it. That got me thinking that maybe a newer hybrid would get me a bit more distance and do away with the nightmare that can be my driver! On Friday I went shopping and bought a SLDR 3 Hybrid while I was in the shop I bought a SLDR Mini Driver on impulse. I managed to hit a bucket of balls and both clubs seemed to be very good.. but I know from the past that what happens on the range isn't often repeated on the course. 9 AM yesterday morning I am stood on the Tee and and take out my Mini Driver to hit in anger for the first time.. Wow just wow.. Long and straight (well long for me! 225Mtrs (246 Yards.) That was repeated hole after hole.. I think only 2 of the drives i hit with it were in the rough.. and I only lost 1 ball in the whole round and that was because i hit the ball longer with the SLDR 3 hybrid straight over the back of the green into a lake. My goto club used to be my 3 hybrid It would get me out of all sorts of problems resulting from my Tee adventures. I think I only used it 6 times yesterday. The trouble now Is I am tempted to get a few more SLDR's maybe the driver and another hybrid... and some new irons.. ohhh damn here we go again!
  4. I live in Spain and despite 70 golf courses nearby I have yet to find someone who can fit clubs or even does demo days
  5. I started playing Golf last year and bought a set of Cobra S3 Max irons with Graphite shafts. I honestly thought that I would never get that much better at golf and that these irons would last me a few years. Roll on a year and miracle of miracles i can play golf better than i ever hoped. Over the past few weeks I have been starting to think that I've out grown my irons, I tested a friends RBZ's and hit them 5-10 yards further, the same with a set of Razr XF's but the main thing was i hit the ball much straigther and the seemed way more consistant. The S3 max's also have a big offset. If money was no object I'd get a set of Razr XF's today but at €1200 thats a conversation i don't want with my wife! I did think while really nice the RBZ's did feel a lot less crisp... sooooooooo 1. Should i look at changing my clubs? 2. Any recommendations what to look at R11's Ping I20's are about the price I can stretch to ..
  6. I've had a similar issue for a long time that is now finally sorted out... I was slicing almost every drive so my driver stayed in my bag. When i started taking lessons I finally was shown what was causing the slice and then we set about curing it one piece at a time. The first step was the set up tilting back slowly, right leg back a few inches. The next was changing to an inside out swing, this was done by getting the feel with a 7 iron and hitting lots of balls until I could draw or fade the ball at will, then going for that draw "feeling" with the driver. By this point my massive slice was a slight fade... Finally my instructor changed my grip to a stronger one. I can now hit a draw , fade or straight drive almost at will . The important thing was he didn't try to cure it in one lesson, but over the space of a month and he made sure i understood what was happening and why, with that understanding it now means that if I suddenly start to hit slices or hooks again I'll know why it's happening and hopefully be able to fix it.
  7. Lessons are the best investment... I really didn't think I needed them but they have really changed my appreciation for the game. Played a very long course here today, La cala ( Americas) 6 pars and 6 bogeys that would have been impossible 3 months ago.
  8. It's expensive.. You can never have enough practice You can have the worst round in history then you hit that 1 shot and you can't wait to get back on the course.. The more time you spend playing and on the range the better you get... Golf lessons work.. 1 small change can make a big difference It's the best sport in the world! I started playing golf just over a year ago with a set of clubs I got for €100 from the local paper. I joined a society in september that play every saturday.. I struggled for months to get more than 30 points 23-27 was a good round. I was seriously crap but I still loved playing. For a bet i said I'd be an 18 handicap (in the society) before my 50th birthday which is july 1st In february i decided to make a serious effort to get better so i started to buy new clubs and a month later won my first tournament. I spent the money I won on a lesson at the local David Ledbetter school. 2 weeks later I won again.. Time for a few more lessons so i invested in a set of 10 lessons... I've now won 5 times and finished 2nd once Next week I'll be playing off 19... The lessons have been the key, I'd still be hacking around with a 26 -28 handicap without them. If you are struggling to play well get at least 1 lesson. The things apart from lessons that have made a big difference are.. playing with a GPS watch and knowing how far I can hit each club. Getting proper wedges rather than using the ones that came with my clubs. Hitting thousands of balls on the range trying to straighten my drive out. I can finally hit the ball reguarly over 200mtrs off the tee and straight (most of the time) that might not seem like much to most of you but for someone who thought 175 was cause for a celebration a few months back it makes a huge difference. (longest to date is 254mtrs with a tail wind) It's been a struggle at times but it's so worth sticking at it.... Just wish i'd started 30 years ago ;(
  9. I am looking for 7, 8 & 9 RBZ irons, I don't need the full set as I hardly every use irons, Hybrids and wedges cover most of what i need. Does anyone know anywhere in the UK or Europe that sell them individually?
  10. I got a RBZ 3 Wood and a 3 Hybrid about 6 weeks ago, they are both superb clubs, the 3 wood actually goes about as far as my old Cleveland Launcher driver, which has been out of my bag now for 5 weeks. The 3 hybrid is just amazing I've never consistantly hit the ball so straight, (it might have a lot to do with confidence!) Today myself and a playing partner went shopping, he bought an R11s and I bought the RBZ, with the money I saved I got a 6 hybrid as well He spent €399 I spent €408 I Spent the afternoon on the range and I have to say the 6 Hybrid once again is superb, I took my time tuning the Driver and it took a while but I managed to tune my fade out (ok some might call it a slice) at the end the ball was much more consistantly landing near the centerline. In the course of the afternoon I hit 5 of the longest drives i've ever hit, but that means nothing until i get on the course tomorrow where I can get accurate measurements. So far I am convinced i made the best decision... I'll know for certain tomorrow!
  11. Thanks for the sensible feedback... I went and got an RBZ 6 hybrid today and picked up an RBZ driver while i was there.. The 6 RBZ goes almost exactly the same distance as the 4 Superfast Burner i have, they are both so much more consistant than the 5 and 6 irons Now have RBZ Driver, 3 wood 3 & 6 hybrid, think I'll sell the superfasts (3 &4) and get maybe an RBZ 4 hybrid
  12. I recently went out and bought a RBZ 3 wood and a 3 hybrid, For some strange reason after a week or two of playing with them I started hitting my old hybrids a hell of a lot better, (taylormade super fast burner's 3 & 4 , the black ones). I can now hit them longer and straighter than ever before. As a result I've hardly used any irons below an 8 on my past few rounds. I want to add 2 more hybrids and replace my 4,5,6,& 7 iron as I find myself using half and 3/4 swings with the 4 hybrid as the results are so good and i'd rather play full shots. I am also considering a few fairway woods instead. What would you guys suggest a 5 , 7, 9 wood or a 4 & 5 hybrid? One final question could the dramatic improvement in my use of my old hybrids be down to the swing weight which is D8 compared to the D4 swing weight of the RBZ's i.e they are heavier so i might have slowed down my swing a bit? Thanks
  13. Unfortunately i am down here is Spain and i've not found a fitting session or even a test day anywhere
  14. I am in a bit of a quandary, I' ve been playing for about 9 months ans am down to 24 handicap. I tend to use a v1 superfast burner off the tee as I hit it straight and usually keep out of trouble my driver is a cleveland launcher I hit the burner (3rescue) only about 170 mtrs so could do with a bit more distance I am thinking of investing in a rbz 3wood and another 3 and 4 hybrid. Do you think that these will get me an extra 20 or 30 mtrs off the tee while keeping me straight. something I can't do consistently with my driver
  15. I totally agree with everything in Hanksters post. I use a much stronger grip on my driver and hybrids and can rip the hybrids off the tee almost as far at the 3 low handicappers I play with hit their drivers ...and it's straight. I only ever take 3 or 4 clubs to the range that stops me from using everything. I had 5 days just working on my drivers and hybrids . Now i am back to woking on my chipping for the next few days. Change your thought process not "what will get me to the green" but "what club will keep me out of trouble" I recently broke 90 for the first time and it's was purely down to hitting fairways and not getting into trouble
  16. I think the answer to that is yes... the thought of a shank was firmly in your mind so you subconsciously had a few. It's the same when ever I get close to a birdie chance... I could be playing the perfect putting round but that birdie chance has a 90% chance of going astray! I noticed something similar the other day about the subconscious. I had 5 putts lined up of the putting green about 6 feet from the hole. I got a phone call and when i finished talking I noticed that i'd popped all 5 into the hole one handed while not paying any attention to it.
  17. I have found that i am getting what feels like a bruised right heel when i play a round, does anyone else get this? I have a pair of nike shoes and wondering if i should change them for something with a bit more cushioning in the heels.
  18. That went better than I hoped... Using the stronger grip I hit all but 2 fairways. Even the 2 I didn't hit resulted in only a bogey. I also managed to par 2 of the 3 par 5's on the course I really only stopped hitting straight on the last hole but by that time i was very tired as we'd been playing in very high temperatures. Going out my hope was to actually break 100 for the first time (on a proper course)... I did it. I also broke 90 woo hoo finished with 89 ( 44points) For now I'll keep using the stronger grip, but eventually I'll have to get my swing sorted out properly. Playing a society competition on Saturday on the same course... I fear a handicap cut coming on.
  19. Thanks guys... I am off out for a round and I'll let you know how it goes later... I think i'll go with the stronger grip today and see if i can keep the same tempo.
  20. I've been playing seriously since the beginning of Summer, 3 years ago I started off on par 3's and a month ago moved onto "Real Courses" Because of the hundreds of par 3's I've played From 150 yards out I am accurate. The problem i get is with my driving. I'll start off on the first with a very slight fade but as the round goes on the fades start to turn into a slice. By the end of the round i am usually taking 6 irons of the tees. My first 9 usually score me 18-21 points on the back 9 I am usually lucky to make double figures! On the course I play the front 9 are the hardest. Over the past few days i've hit about 300 drives on the range, and tried diffferent things 2 seems to have worked well. Using my normal grip before I tee off bring my right foot back a few inches and move my left forward.... this resulted in a much straighter drive with occasional fade Using my normal stance strengthen my grip so the club face is closed this straightened the drives out as well and even allowed a slight draw to appear. Using this stronger grip my hybrids flew long and straight as well with the occasional sexy little draw. Does any of this make sense to anyone? I am playing tomorrow and I want to score well on the back 9 short of starting on the 10th any idea what might be wrong?
  21. I had the same problem for 6 years, and just dealt with it I tried and eventually and gave up golf. Last year i went to a chiropractor and within 2 sessions my back problem was sorted out. Now back playing golf and lots of other things I'd given up.
  22. La Cala have just remodeled the Europa course so it might be worth a try
  23. Hi Guys, I've been reading the forum for a while and decided it's time to join. 3 years ago i moved to an apartment near Marbella in spain that has access to a private par 3 golf course. I played regularly but due to an old back injury had to give up as it caused me pain and i was bored playing the same 50-90 mtr holes all the time A year ago I went to a chiropractor and in 2 sessions he cured what had been causing me pain for over 6 years! I returned to par 3 golf about 3 months ago and since then have moved onto longer courses par 3 courses, a short 9 hole par 33 course finally playing my first full sized 18 hole course last week. As you can imagine after lots of par 3 holes my short game is pretty good! I did try golf in my early 20's (almost 30 years ago) but was totally rubbish and gave up because i couldn't cure a slice. This time I've taken a more scientific approach and it's working well, slice is cured and i am hitting the ball straight. Averaging between 40-44 on the par 33 and hit 95 on the first visit to a "real " course. The Online Handicap tracker i use gave me a handicap of 20.3 which surprised me, Using Cobra S3 Max Irons (5-sw Graphite shafts), Superfast Burner hybrids and a Cleveland launcher
  24. Got to disagree :) Here on the Costa Del Sol there are about 40 courses sat on my terrace I can see 5.
