  1. I'm still using my sand wedge that i got with my set i do have an old 60* vokey but thinking of replacing both with new wedges just wondering if people are of the impression that its important to have bladed milled wedges or not. or if I'm chipping ok but relying on the roll i should keep going with it. or in order to drop shots get a milled wedge so i can be a bit more accurate. thanks in advance

  3. used the taylor made getting an extra 65 yards on the dunlop. think the loft s set a lot higher than the 18* it claims
  4. reason i asked this question is i hit my taylormade 23* loft about 10yards longer than the dunlop 18* hybrid going out to try the taylormade 17* hybird 2night to see how i get on with that. And i know some cheaper clubs can be ok ect but just think maybe this was too cheap? my putter is worth about £5 but wouldnt change it for the world.
  5. iv been looking at hybrid recently and when in a sports shop saw they had a dunlop hybrid at a very cheap price so i decided to give it a go. but I'm not getting the distance i thought i would. so my question is whats everyone experience? are more expensive clubs better ( further distance) or just the same and you just buying a brand name. the hybrid was £9 have been looking at a taylormade hybrid for £100. now i know most of you are going say go out on the range with a better club and see what distance you get. Which i will but just wondering on your experiences.
  6. i try not to worry about reading to much but consentrate on distance control if you get this right your 2 putt everything easily and get the on putts more often thats as a 16 handicaper
  7. ok thanks for the help. at the moment im only carrying 11 clubs driver, 22 hybrid, 5 - Lw and putter. So im going dust off my 3 and 5 woods that came with my beginner set and hit the range then see with some practice how i get on from there. and then a hybrid as i do it my 22* very well. thanks
  8. ok thanks i think il go up the pro shop hit a 4 wood and a 17 hybird. Got a basic wilson 5 and 3 wood that i got with my beginner set but struggle to hit them off the fairway. is it worth hitting the range with these first? or are fairway woods just not for some people?
  9. got a big gap in my bag driver which is 13 loft ( had this custom fitted) and my 22 hybrid. now we have some pretty long par 4s on my local course and I'm struggling to get near the green on my 2nd shot. the par 5s not so much which seems weird thinking about it. and with the winter coming up it gets windy as we are on the cost. so what club could fill this gap? was thinking of a 17 hybrid probably Taylor made rescue. any advice would be much appreciated. many thanks Luke
  10. Thanks for the advise and exactly what i was thinking. But very nice to have peoples advice to back it up. Glad im not going waste a few hundred pounds on a set that will be doing exactly the same. Got fitted for my driver recently and would not buy a club with out getting fitted now. Many thanks Luke
  11. New to this but here goes......... iv been playing golf regularly for about 2 years now my official handicap is 17 although my friends make me play to 14 (reason being iv not entered competitions to get cut yet) i think I'm somewhere between the two depending on the day. i bought a set of Wilson tour Rx beginner set for £100 ( retail was £280 at the time) when i started as i didn't now how serious i was going to be taking golf. now iv started playing regularly and want to compete in club competitions. I have bought a new driver and wedges and was thinking of changing my irons. although i do like them and hit them fairly well (a Little bit of left to right but that's my swing and having lessons to correct this starting in the next couple of weeks) people i play with say i should look at getting a new set. my question is when do you know you need a new set of irons? as they play OK and i am still improving. is it more of a sales/marketing ploy that make golfers think they need the latest technology or do i need new clubs to significantly improve? or will lessons be worth more than a new set of clubs? many thanks in advance for any help
