  1. After doing a little more research i see that people seem to think the 4 and 5 iron shafts are over long in comparison to the rest of the clubs. Looking at my 4 and 6 side by side the 4 seems to be well over an inch in longer. What would be a typical difference here?
  2. Thanks for the responses and info everyone, its much appreciated. I hit the range again last night and gave them a second shot and im glad that i did. The longer irons 4-5 are going to take some getting used too but the rest were playing much better and very straight. It was clearly me the previous night, i had just been for a run and it was over 100 outside. I'm english and not used to existing in such temperatures! Not to mention the weird grass they have over here in the US.. Its like hittin off uneven straw! On a side note, i also hit my brand new FT-IZ tour 10.5 voodoo stiff last night and what a beast that is. Bombs straight down the middle 9/10 of the time. Reallly pleased i picked that up for $90 on ebay. Anyway thanks, im keeping the clubs and im going to work on my game.
  3. Thanks for the reply, unfortunately i tested the clubs at Golfsmith but bought them from ebay for the simple reason that i got them for a heck of alot cheaper. I got 4-PW for $430 and i think golfmsith are offering them for between $700 - $800 but with the KBS Tour which i now know! I wonder if i could trade them in?
  4. Interesting idea, i'm quite new to this level of fitting for clubs. The last set i bought was as a junior about 12 years ago. I'll have a look into it. Thanks very much!
  5. Well i definately dont want them any stiffer! I'm going to give them a second chance down at the range but i have a feeling im going to end up selling them on very quickly at a loss. Thanks for the comments.
  6. Agreed i dont think it was the shafts that were sending my shots all over. It was my ball striking, the difference seemed to be how it felt between good and bad shots. They just felt so hard with little forgiveness at all. As for sending them back. I cant now as i have hit them, so im basically stuck as far as i can tell.
  7. Thanks for the reply, I think i am going to have to take my 6i down to golfsmith and compare them side by side if they will let me. Anyone else?
  8. Hi, I have a set of Adams CB2 with the PX flighted 5.5's... I made an irritating mistake which is completely my own fault but i ordered them new (off ebay) thinking that they came with the stock shaft which i assume i was using in Golfsmith and assume that was the KBS tour Regular Flex. I hit them beautifully. So my clubs arrive and to my surprise have different shafts, i do a bit of reading and opinions seem to be varied on how stiff these particular shafts maybe, people saying anything from regular to extra stiff.. Not being able to return the clubs i get impatient staring at them for a week and decide to go hit them last night. To my horror i was hitting all over the place and it felt like i was hitting rocks, not the forgiving irons i tried in the shop. I appreciate that some of this is likely due to my ability but nevertheless it was a complete change from the clubs i originally tried. They couldn't have felt more different. So has anyone any experience of these shafts and any suggestions on what to do? Each club has probably had 5-10 balls hit with each now. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks for the responses people, i'll probably take one more trip to golfsmith just to make sure but i'll be ordering the CB2's unless something amazing happens. Thanks again, Nick
  10. How do i know you're not a CB2 player though ;) Seriously though thanks for the response, i figured i would get plenty of those kind of responses you mentioned. My head is pretty much made up but its always nice to get some external opinions!
  11. I've just moved to the US and i'm looking into buying a whole new setup. First off i'm looking at Irons and i would appreciate any constructive advice people can offer. My history -- I dont have a handicap, i havn't been a member of a club since i was a junior but i have played relatively regularly over the last few years and over the coming years i expect to play alot more due to the number of affordable course here in TX. My ball striking particularly in the longer Irons is the strongest part of my game. I've tried a number of different clubs at golfsmith and some other shops and i narrowed it down to 2 irons which people may consider very different. The Adams CB2's and the TM Burner 2.0s. I hit them both well but with the CB2's feeling a little straighter and in general almost as long. Reading reviews it seemed that the general consensus that the 2.0s were probably the best "game improving iron" and "most forgiving" for that sort of money which is why i tried them.. The more i researched the more the CB2's popped up and after hitting them i really liked how they felt and looked, more solid, less clunky and importantly for me a bit more straight! The question is am i an idiot for getting an Iron like the CB2 rather than a big old Cavity like the 2.0 given my relative playing standard? I expect to improve pretty quickly but if i hit the CB2 best already then why shouldn't i just buy them? Thanks in Advance... Nick
