  1. Just following on from the "ball flight laws"thread. When I first started learning the game, i went through all stages of development like learning why I'm suddenly slicing, ooops there's a duck hook. ya know all that basic stuff about your swing and then my coach decided one day to try to teach me the value of shaping my shots into the green. And yep I believed him. It took me too many years to work out that shaping is a wank........unless your game is that complete and that polished that adding shaping is icing on the cake .....I'm talking competition winning pros.....anyone else don;'t bother. The problem I reckon is people see pro's doing it and they think it's another hurdle that must be jumped in order to to go to some next level of golf. Pros have got alot to answer to I reckon. Ordinary folks, you know like most golfers on this forum shouldn't be trying alot things that the pros use. Here's a couple to kick off. Driver lofts: how many punters like me are trying to hit 8,9,or 10.5 drivers. That's a joke, most peeps would hit a 14 or 16 degree driver the same length as their Pro style driver .....and improve their fairway position immensely......improve their score......enjoy their game more. OK another one....... 60 and 64 degree wedges. That's insane!!! just because Darren Clarke's got a 60 degree in his bag doe not mean hackers like us should even think about it. Golfers should be realistic, and use the equipment and techniques that will make our games better...
  2. Yes, the lofts are similar to a traditional driver 3 wood, 5 wood combination. But the big difference I guess is in the volume of the heads. The drivers are full 460 cc"s. They have huge sweet spots, so standing over the ball with that head size there gives me confidence that even with the crappiest swing the ball will come off sweet. So why aren't 7 woods,5 woods,3 woods etc 460 cc's? because they're designed to hit off the turf. Do we hit off the turf when we tee off? no, we use a tee peg. If you're going to use a tee peg why not make you other "tee off" clubs 460 cc's. Let the kicking continue!
  3. Yes Mini Blue Dragon I've got the 3 drivers, then 3 long range fairway clubs...ping 4 wood, mizuno 23 degree hybrid and mizuno 26 hybrid. Then 6 iron to 9 iron. 3 wedges and L2 putter. For me I reckon its a good allround kit. Long irons, for me anyway are a waste of time and on some courses I'll drop the 4 wood and put a conventional putter in for the seaside links courses so I can putt from off the green. It may sound a bit odd but I think it's quite logical really. what I've tried to do is divide my bag into clubs for different jobs.....so 3 tee clubs 3 long range fairway clubs,4 " go for the green " clubs, 3 wedges(i call them birdie clubs) and 2 putters(depending on the 4 wood).I love playing with the 2 putters . The l2 is my favorite way to putt but the traditional putter is great to clean up from on the fringe. So I'm concentrating on the start of the hole(3 tee clubs) and the end of the hole(3 wedges and 2 putters). Let the ass kicking begin!
  4. So. yep three drivers. Bang bangster 9 degree on a aldila nv65 s 46 inches .......for those smash the hell out out of it shots. You know when your trying to make a cheap birdie on a short par 4 or trying to get to the green in 2 on a par 5 . Then bang golf bangster 14 degree , 44.5 inches Aldila 65 stiff......sort of a "safety driver" something that I can rely on to make fairways, not super long , I max this driver out at 245 meters. Then driver 3 ...... Bang golf (yep I like em) mellow yellow square 20 degrees 42 inches aldila reg. this is the one I use for dog leg par 4's, 210 meter par 3's, real tight driving holes etc. OK so here's my logic, The clubs are my tee clubs, I tee them up the same, they look the same and I don't have to think about half three woods off the deck, hard punching low irons etc. They've got huge sweet spots and fluffing a shot ,especially with the 14 and the 20 are non existent. At my local course there are 10 par 4's ranging from a long ,usually into the wind 440 meter par 4 to a 280 meter dogleg with tight landing area. One driver can't do all these tricky shots. Watcha think??
