  1. Yea, but I bet it woke you up.
  2. First let me say that this has not been a very good year for LPGA rookies. In fact, it may be the poorest in quite some time. There were 35 rookies who started the 2013 season with lots of hope of establishing themselves. The sad fact is, that only 8 of them retained their playing cards as a result of their 2013 performance on the LPGA tour. That's right, just 22.8%. That is down from 36.3% last year, when 12 of 33 rookies retained their playing cards. Three other players retained their playing cards because of their play on the Symetra Tour this year, and 2 did in 2012. Below are my final ratings for all 2013 rookies. These ratings are strictly based on how they fared on the LPGA tour this season. Any successes or failures on other tours (excluding the Symetra Tour), are not considered here. Success in retaining their LPGA tour cards was the determining factor for my final ratings. http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/12/rating-rookies-part-3-final-analysis.html
  3. We have come to the end of the 2013 LPGA season. A season that was, in my opinion, the best season ever. It certainly seemed that week in and week out, the final result of a tournament wasn't decided until the 72nd hole. Sometimes it wasn't even decided then, and we had to go to a playoff. It was a year with 5 Major Championships, the first 3 won by the same player. We had winners from 8 different countries. I was asking myself, "How can this be topped next year?" Well, Commissioner Michael Whan sure is going to try. His announcement of four new tournaments, 3 on American soil, sure has us looking forward to the start of 2014. On that note, I would like to look at some of the most important statistics from 2013: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/stats-facts-volume-17.html

  6. They just take the average drive on two par 5 holes. If you hit a tree on one of them, it will severely lower your average.
  7. Breaking News: The LPGA 2014 Schedule has just been announced, and it is filled with surprises. 5 New tournaments!!!! http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/lpga-announces-2014-shedule.html

  9. ~~A big congratulations goes out to Lexi Thompson for winning last week's Loreno Ochoa Invitational. It was Lexi's second victory in her last four starts. At the age of nineteen, Lexi has now joined those few elite players on the LPGA who will be making a run at becoming #1 in 2014. This week the LPGA moves to Naples, Florida for the CME Group Titleholders. This is the final tournament of the 2013 season. Here are the key details: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/cme-group-titleholders-preview-pairings.html

  11. The LPGA completed its 5 tournament Asian swing last week, and we had a surprise winner. Non LPGA player Teresa Lu was victorious and will now have the opportunity to play full time on the world's biggest women's tour in 2014. Chella Choi, who I have said is the best golfer on the LPGA without a win, finished second just 2 back. The LPGA moves to Mexico this week for the playing of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. This will be tournament #27 of 28 on the LPGA schedule. Here are the key details: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/lorena-ochoa-invitational-preview.html
  12. Teresa Lu wins by one shot over Chella Choi! For full results: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/mizuno-classic-preview-pairings.html
  13. Good question. I am thinking that five straight tournaments in Asia became one too many. With a one week break last week, most Americans couldn't resist 2 weeks off.
  14. Kraig Kahn, Chief Communications Officer for the LPGA, promised us a big week of announcements and he has not let us down. Just a few days ago, Commissioner Michael Whan, on behalf of the LPGA, announced a three year partnership with transcontinental railway Canadian Pacific to become the title sponsor of the Canadian Women's Open. That seems to be just the beginning. http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/another-major-lpga-announcement.html

  16. The LPGA returns this week after a short break, and moves to Japan for the playing of the Mizuno Classic. This will be the final stop on the 5 tournament Asian swing. This week's tournament in Japan will be #26 of 28 on the 2013 LPGA schedule. The season winds down with the playing of the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico, followed by the CME Group Titleholders in Naples, Fl. Here are the key details: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/mizuno-classic-preview-pairings.html
  17. The LPGA is taking a break this week before resuming its Asian swing in Japan. It has been an interesting season, and with only 3 tournaments to go, many major awards are still up for grabs. Here is a look at some of the major statistics, and awards that still remain undecided: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/11/stats-facts-vol-16.html
  18. The 2013 LPGA season has brought us lots of surprises. We have had first time winners. We have had winners from 7 different countries. Five Major Championships were played for the first time, with one player (Inbee Park) winning 3 of them. We have even had 4 players win multiple championships this year. However the biggest surprise to date has to be the tumble taken by Yani Tseng. For full article: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/10/what-in-world-has-happened-to-yani-tseng.html

  21. Congratulations goes out to Amy Yang for becoming a first time LPGA winner. Amy won the LPGA KEB. Hanabank Championship, in a very exciting playoff over Hee Kyung Seo. We have been saying for quite sometime that Amy was the best player on tour who had yet to win. We can say that no more. I am now giving that designation to Chella Choi. The LPGA moves to Taiwan this week for the playing of the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship. This is the fourth stop of five tournaments to be played in Asia over a six week period. This is tournament #25 of 28 on the 2013 LPGA schedule. Here are the Key Details: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/10/sunrise-lpga-taiwan-championship.html
  22. It doesn't matter to me if people aren't going to my website. I don't advertise there or make a single penny by people going there. I post here just to keep the LPGA in the news. I don't always have the time to post the round leaders and final results on all the boards, ( I do when I have the time), so sometimes I just post updates on my site and post links to the discussion boards. If this is a problem then just tell me to stop posting and leave. I will gladly do so.
  23. Final Scores have now been posted: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/10/lpga-keb-hanabank-championshio-preview.html
  24. Congratulations goes out to Lexi Thompson, who soundly thrashed the playing field at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Championship. For 18 year old Lexi, it was her 2nd LPGA victory and 3rd victory overall (she has an LET victory in Dubai). If Lexi can continue putting at a reasonable rate, she will be someone to reckon with week in and week out. The LPGA moves to South Korea this week for the playing of the LPGA HEB. Hanabank Championship. This is the third of five consecutive tournaments to be played in Asia. This is a 3 day tournament with 54 holes scheduled. This is tournament #24 of 28 on the 2013 LPGA schedule. Here are the key details: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/10/lpga-keb-hanabank-championshio-preview.html
  25. The third round results have now been posted: http://www.tonyslpgareport.com/2013/10/sime-darby-lpga-malaysia-preview.html
