  1. Thanks Guys. RustyRedCab you are spot on with the 3/4 backswing. That is one of the things i have been doing, especially with my driver, to control some slice. I have a 5 week old baby boy at home who needed some daddy time this evening so i didn't get to hit any balls, but i hope to tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again everyone, i am really taken with the forum. Lots of great advice!
  2. That makes total sense. I'll give it a try this evening.
  3. Thanks Three Jack. I have noticed that i tend to get better results (both straighter and longer) when do something similar to what you are describing. I will try to completely ignore my hands and arms after reaching the top of my backswing, and then try to hit the ball by swinging the club with my hips and core. I was not mentally focusing on my shoulders which might be why i get poor accuracy when swinging that way, I always seem to remember to swing that way about 4/5 of the way through the bucket of balls though!
  4. Sorry no photos of my swing yet, will work on that later. I just joined the goup this evening and this is my first post so please pardon any faux pas. I have a terrible slice that can carry my drives 60+ yards to the right. It is not uncommon for my tee shots to start over the adjoining fairway (to the left) and end up in the rough to the right on mine. It is even evident down to my 8 and 9 irons. I have found a few things that i can do to staighten my drives out but they are all the "wrong" thing to do and i dont want to build bad habits into my swing. I know that i open my club face at the top of my backswing and then try to correct through my downswing; generally resulting in an erratic swing path and a short shot that breaks hard to the right about 75% through its flight. Any tips for keeping my clubface square through my backswing?
  5. Hi everyone. I'm a Nursing Administrator from the northern Virginia area. I'm relatively new to golf, just starting my third season at 25 years old. I have never measured my handicap but it would be embarrasing so it is just as well! On a good day i might shoot 105 on an easy course, i broke one hundred with a 98 last year but haven't done it since. That being said I hit about 1000 balls a week (big back yard) and I can't get enough of the game. I'm hoping to pick up some helpful hints and wisdom from the forums.
