  1. Right so in today's round I had two separate issues off the tee and I was wondering what they might be 1, With my 3 wood from the tee I hit the ball and it squirts out low and very short with a hole (not a divot) in front of the tee. I imagine I'm hitting down too much and compressing the ball into the grass in front. Any idea what might fix this? I think maybe I'm teeing back too far? 2, With a few irons on par 3's it came out a big hight right slice with a divot on the far side of the tee (i.e. if you were watching me from behind to follow the path of the shot the divot was to the right of the tee). It felt like it was coming off the heel. Any ideas on what this is or the cause? Thanks, John
  2. Literally every shot finished EXACTLY in a straight line out of my sternum if I held after my follow through. I found it amazing to witness. Not every shot was good but if I hit left or right my body pointed left or right. I started doing a full speed practice swing to align my sternum to the target line and had great results. Is this something most people do?
  3. Not much help from me man as I find the same thing. I managed to par two 3's on my last round and it was the most satisfying thing I did all day. I guess the problem is that there's no space for error. Lately I've taken some advice from Jason Day and always aim for the centre, never the pin. Has helped a bit
  4. Honestly? Where would he drop them do you think?
  5. Ha ha I've refused to play since to keep my record:) Tomorrow morning will ruin that no doubt!!
  6. That's what I think too. Ok here's another way of looking at it. If you took a scratch player and took away his driver on a typical course how many shots would he really give up? I think the only place he would is on the long fives so maybe two or three shots. Sounds good to me!!
  7. No I have not. I think that's not going to change either as I'd rarely have the distance to get there in two. I'm just questioning whether that one situation is really worth planning for?
  8. I recently played my personal best round (-6 off 16). I didn't use the driver once. Using my 3W from the tee on all long holes I hit every fairway except one and all over 220yds (longest with roll 270) I am at the stage where I honestly think that I will never use my driver again. Why on earth should I chose 300 yds with say 70% FIR (being optimistic) over 250 with 95% ? I genuinely believe that I will have better scores with a 3W off the tee and use my driving practice time to work on more short game shots. The only situation in which I believe I would suffer is having no eagle putts on long par fives Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?
  9. Hi Lads, I'm having a little problem at the moment with my tee shots. Basically I hit my 3 wood well and usually about 210-230 off the tee, I can hit my driver further but with a BIG left to right. It's unreliable and often ruins my scores and means I'm in trouble from the second shot. My question is if I leave the driver to the range until I get more consistent with it, at what point does it actually become worth bringing it back to the course? Should I wait until I get it 250 plus with good consistency or is that not really worth it for a 20 yard gain!! What do you guys think?
