  1. Right now I am playing with Powerbilt irons, they are alright for a starter set, but I am really getting into golf right now. I am a college student, I'm 5 foot 11 and 200 pounds and I am looking into purchasing a brand new iron set. My max budget is about $600 and I want them to get fitted. I have a few sets in mind that have caught my eye, such as the Cleveland Pearl Black CG16 iron set, the new Cobra Amp iron set (Maximum Budget Range), the Calloway Diablo Edge Irons, the Cobra S3 Max irons. I have read every review i can possibly find on these clubs. My question is, if anyone has hit them, whats your point of view on them. I am looking for a forgiving set, it doesn't really have to be the longest club that is known to man, i am looking for a forgiving set that will give me straighter shots with better trajectory. Thank you for all the comments
  2. A 1 year old model when I bought it, I made the mistake of buying before hitting it at a pro shop. Every single review I read, boasted the ample amount of forgiveness and average distanced gained was incredible. Before buying the club I had been using a handy down driver that is about 5 years old, it had a 420CC head, considering most drives are 445 or 460cc now, that should help with how old it was. My average drive with it was about 240, and I even hit 250 when I really hit the sweet spot. Well long story, I found that it just wasnt getting the job done anymore. So I purchased this driver, at first I was incredibly impressed with the look and feel of the club. My first swing off the tee was a bomb, I poked it near 280, and i thought how could this get any better, well it did not, swing after swing, it was a slice or a softy. I worked with the club on the range 5 times, going through a 100 balls each time. I just could not get comfortable with it, i think its because of my swing type, considering the club is oddly shaped, due to its aerodynamic capability. Well i recently gave up on it, luckily my brother found great success with it, considering we have two different swing types, and his just happened to fit it very well. A few ratings on the club on a scale of 1 to 10. Look and feel-9 It has a very cool look to it, and i think that may be why i had originally bought it in the first place. It sounds a little bit different from every other driver i have used, not as clean but still nice. The feel is amazing, very light and a great grip. Performance- 7 If it wasnt for my brother it would be lower, however i wont just damage a clubs reputation based on one persons opinion. When you hit it clean, its a great driver, but i found on slight mishits it wasn't working out for me. I altered my swing so many times to try conforming to the club but i just couldnt do it. On my last outing with this club i brought my old driver out just in case. Good thing i did. My first drive was a slice that went no more than a 125 yards. After 3 consecutively bad drives, i switched to my old driver. It did the trick and i was back at my true form. I was hitting straight and had a solid feel of the club. Advice- if i had the chance to redo it all over again, i would have tried it out at a pro shop before making the purchase, of course this seems obvious, but i was just so starstruck with how it look and all the great reviews i had read, i just couldnt wait any longer. I strongly urge you to try it out if you enjoy long back swings, because this driver may not be for you.
