I get higher ball flight with x shafts as well...I think if you swing solid or hit into the ball hard, rather than swing, the x flex has less shaft lag, so the effective loft s higher. Prob a late release... Softer shafts just de-loft the club face under load through the ball...to stop this pause or wait a fraction more time at the top of the back swing and the shaft will catch up
