  1. My driver swing speed is generally between 93-97MPH. Not sure where that rates in swing speeds but, I'm guessing it's fairly average based on the distances I get from it.
  2. Yeh I understand what you're saying. I'm slowly fixing my slice and *most* of the time I'm hitting pretty straight shots but, sometimes when I get tired or lose focus I tend to bring back in a little bit of the bad habit and end up slicing the ball out there. I also just saw the penta's are definitely not for my skill level. good looking out. now i'm looking at the gamerv2, nike crush and warbird plus. you're also right about on the number with how many I lose per round. I lost 3 on my last round of 18.
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm just starting to research golf balls. I'm a 29 handicapper and my game is slowly improving. I know different brand/model balls won't make a huge difference in my game but, if I'm going to spend money to buy golf balls I figured I might as well give myself the best chance for better scores by playing a ball more suited to my game. I'm mostly looking for a low spin ball and wanted to find out what low spin balls the folks around here like? When my drive goes wrong it tends to slice with a pretty high spin rate so, I figure to help combat that, low spin golf balls will be best for me. I'm not too concerned about them sticking on the green as every time I've hit a ball onto a green it seems to stick pretty well so, maybe I've just been lucky with that aspect of my game so far. So that's it; what low spin balls does everyone like? So far, I'm looking at NXT tours, TP5's and also saw a few people mention Pinnacle Golds.
  4. I bought a Taylormade Burner Superfast 2.0 driver with regular shaft and 10.5* launch angle. I've been thinking about getting a custom shaft and grip for it and was wondering how to determine which shaft and grip to get? I know there's custom fitting and was thinking about a Golftec fitting for it but, it seems like the Golftec stuff is more for recommending complete clubs with custom adjustments opposed to custom shafts from different brands etc. The reason I'm thinking about getting my driver customized is because although I hit it well, I hit my brother's driver a little better and it's a Callaway FT9 with a Fujikura shaft. I like my driver and hit it well enough, I just think it could be a little bit better.
  5. Yeh I suspect my swing work with a fairway wood needs work. I have really hit some nice shots with my 3W but its not an overall confidence inspirer. I really want something that will give me a high percentage shot around the 210-215 yardage mark. I tend to hit my 3 iron about 180-185 and my 3W usually goes about 220-225 (when hit well).
  6. I did notice the FT9 does feel quite a bit heavier than my Burner. Thought that might have something to do with it as well.
  7. I realize people often want to blame equipment for poor shot making in golf. Setting that aside, today I was at the practice range with my family (they golf too) and I took the opportunity to try my brother in-law's driver. He's got a Callaway FT9 neutral, 10*, stiff shaft and my regular driver is a Taylormade Burner Superfast 2.0, 10.5*, regular shaft. Since I've got the Taylormade (a couple months ago) my shots with it have been inconsistent at best. Sometimes slice, sometimes draw, sometimes straight. When I tried out his FT9 driver, I hit _every_ shot straight and longer than my Taylormade. I almost purposely tried to hit the Callaway bad just to see and even when I thought I hit a "bad" shot it still wasn't terrible. I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on why that might be? I'm guessing it might be because of the stiff shaft versus regular shaft? I feel like I have a quick swing speed but, honestly, haven't ever had my driver swing speed measured. I also noticed the loft is a half degree different but, I can't imagine that making much difference.
  8. I have a set of Ping G2 irons with a burner superfast 2.0 three wood and same model driver.
  9. Hi Everyone, I wanted to know what degree of a hybrid would be a good fit between a 3 iron and a 3 wood? I thought putting a hybrid in that spot would be better than a 5 wood since it can double as a rescue club. Thanks all!
  10. Here's a couple of vids of my swing from last year, incase this helps on where to give advice.
  11. Hi Everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post. I'll get right down to it. I've been an off again on again player for a number of years. I played briefly last summer (a few games with my father in law). Long story short, he wants me to join a scramble tournament this June 30th. It sounds pretty fun and we both figured a scramble tournament would be a good first tournament for me to play in. I'm heading back to the practice range starting this week and wanted to see what everyone recommends as far as some drills to help get my swing into shape. I've always had a problem of inconsistent ball contact. I could hit 2-3 really solid shots and then duff a couple and then hit another good one or two and then duff maybe a couple more. Of anything, I really desire to get good, consistent ball contact that will send the ball up and straight. Not concerned about distance, club head speed or anything else. Simply just want to get the ball off the ground and going straight. I do have some videos of me at a store last year swinging some different irons and such (had my wife use the SwingPlane app on the iPhone to record them) if it helps, I can share them somewhere. Thank you all for any help you can provide. I am really looking forward to getting back into golf more consistently.
