  1. I got mine on Monday. Hit a 4H off the tee on a 370yd par 4 then a 6i to within 15-18 inches. I was stoked as I walked up to the hole and just tapped it in and celebrated. I shot an 89 for that day and came away feeling real good putting a circle on the score card for the first time.
  2. I'd say your assessment sounds about right. I'm 5'8 160 lbs. I didn't have a driver until about a week ago so I have only been practicing with 5i (can't hit the 4i or 3i very well) an up for the last couple of months. My basic (par 4) strategy was just get in on the fairway, hit an iron, and then take a 30-50 yard pitch hole followed by 2 putts. I played the drives conservative just to make sure I had a nice clean lie on my second shots. I choked up and kept the swing compact to minimize any chance of errors. Now that I have a driver I can start working on a bigger back turn and longer swing. I also just ordered a TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 4H to give me some more juice than just the regular 5i. My iron play, wedge game, and putting are all solid. I just feel that if I could drive it ~250 with consistency I would be looking a breaking 80 pretty quickly. It's exciting stuff, I have definitely "caught the bug."
  3. The last time I played an entire 18 hole round was in early June and shot a 108 on my home course in Greenville, NC which was designed by Lee Trevino. Well, since then I have bought a year-long membership to a driving range in Wilmington, NC (where I go to school) and spent around 12-14 hours a week working on my game. I just returned home a few days ago and made it out to walk 18 today and shot an 89! I am pumped. The hard work paid off. Here's the breakdown: 3 pars, 13 bogies, 2 double bogies Hit every fairway No GIR's 2 one-putts, 16 2-putts 0 3-putts No sand, water, or OB I am a really short hitter, probably only about 200 yds off the tee, but I am consistent and play everything safe. I had never even broken 100, let alone 90, before so to cross off two major milestones in one round is pretty exciting. Any tips on how to move down into the lower 80's?
