  1. What does temperature do to distance/ball flight? I know the ball goes farther in the warm temperatures, but thats about it...
  2. Whenever I watch a pro tournament, they will use (for example) and 7 iron on a 175 yard shot, and then use it again on a 200 yard par 3, reaching their targets both times. My question is what do you consider when pulling a club? I usually just go with what club I can use a full swing with, but obviously the good golfers choose high irons for mid range shots...
  3. I've gone from a bad golfer to a decent one, but one problem that has remained consistent is accuracy with my driver. My common miss is a shot that starts on line, and then goes well right. When I try to correct this, I have been known to hit a low, left hooking shot. I have taken lessons and brought these struggles up more than once, but nothing seems to stay fixed after my lessons. My question is, did anyone else go from being super inaccurate with the driver, to accurate? If so, how did you do it? I feel like since I hit well at my lessons, and then poorly later, it is a mental issue. Any insight on how to correct that is appreciated too. I would love to improve my scores since this is my main issue!
  4. Hello all, I live in Idaho, and currently the daytime highs are in the low 40's or upper 30's. I went to the range today and was hitting my couple year old (and well used) driver (below). On one of my shots, the decal things that say "tour" and "razor hawk" came off leaving only the glue residue and a now barren club. My question is, did the cold temperatures do this, or did the fact that the club is older cause it? I would like to play in the cold during the offseason, but don't want to have another issue like this with my ap2 irons or other clubs.
  5. I live in Idaho, with hot summers and long, cold winters. I would like to improve my putting in this offseason, so I was thinking about purchasing an indoor putting aid. Are there any indoor putting aids you use that have been helpful? I've looked into things like the Eyeline golf laser, but I don't know if that would only assist in shorter putts...
  6. At the course I play at there are a lot of trees, so it is not uncommon to find myself under a tree, needing to just punch the ball out into the fairway. Often times this entails keeping the ball below 6 or so feet and clearing about 20 yards of rough. I have been struggling lately as my shots often either hit the low hanging tree branches or don't clear the rough- very frustrating. How can I hit a low punch to stay below tree branches but still reach the fairway? Anything helps. Thanks
  7. Hello, I have played golf on and off my whole life, and seriously now for about 3 years. I have just gotten interested in handicaps this past season, and have inputted my scores into an app on my phone, just the total score overall. I heard about the "net double bogey" rule in handicaps, but i don't know what it means. Since I have put in numerous strokes into the app that were above double bogey, did this negatively impact my handicap? I score on average about a 94 with an 69.8 rating and a 127 slope and the app says I have a 20.6 handicap. Any clarification on this would be great! Thanks!
  8. Sorry friend, Boise born and bread, GO Broncos!
  9. I know that there are lots of different opinions out there, but would you advise teeing up on a par 3 or striking the ball of the ground? I usually hit off the ground, but i must admit, i havent practiced teeing my iron shots up.
  10. @Cooke119. I am taking 4 lessons this season (at least) so that should help a lot.
  11. So I am not the best golfer there was, (i shoot around 110 in an 18 hold round, 57 in a 9) and one of the things i struggle with constantly is consistency or aim, whichever you want to call it. It seems like one day ill be pounding my drives straight the whole day, and then the next they're all slices. Its inconsistant. Also inconsistent is my iron play. However with the irons, i can usually get them to fly the same, but i have trouble aiming them. I think i might have to many variables in my swing... If there is any tips you have on getting consistant or aiming consistant i'm all ears!
  12. Hello there! I've been a recreational golfer for years, just getting out and enjoying the game, but i started to really get a passion for golf and am determined to get my scores lower. The clubs i currently have are: driver, fairway wood, 4 hybrid, 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, 9 iron, pitching wedge, and putter. Should i get any more clubs (i was thinking 50, 58, 60 degree wedges or something)? Will purchasing the clubs help to lower my score? I think there high flight, little stopping distance could help my a lot... I also dont have a SW... Explainations would be appreciated also! :) Thoughts? Thanks!
