  2. I just got back into golf after many years off, and really looking forward to practicing instead of doing the weekly round of casual golf. In a good day, I can shoot a 96, but that can easily hit the 105 mark if I'm playing poorly. My iron swing speed is appx 96, while driver is around 107 I believe. Without getting fully fitted, I went with the Burner 2.0 irons. The 'basic' fit consisted of upright lie, and determining if I should go with regular steel, versus stiff. In the end, I went with the stiff. For the most part, I am happy with the irons. They feel great, and confident when hitting them. Practice will help as I move forward. On the other hand, I went into a Dicks and only tested 1 driver, the TM Burner Superfast. Without even really getting fitted, I went with that driver in a 9.5*/stock stiff shaft. I am still hitting the ball fairly high, and when I connect, it feels great. On the other hand, I feel my slice (ball spin) is much worse with this driver. Also hitting this club fairly high for a 9.5*. Forgiving, yes...but I slice much worse now than I ever did. I keep reading the forum and everyone says go 10.5*, or higher. I just feel if I went with an even higher degree, my ball would be reaching the clouds. All in all, someone wants to buy my driver for $100, which I feel is a decent price. What are your thoughts on selling this club, and getting fully fitted for a new driver? I am not quite sure if the loft, shaft, and lightness of the club is affecting my game greatly, or if I should just stick with it another year. Opinions?
  3. When I was 19 or 20 I wanted a part time job at a course as a time easter, and to make a few extra $$ along the way. I just helped with carts and range, and was laid back/casual. I recommend a nice pair of khakis with a polo or dress slacks with a longsleeve. Golf shoes/tie are not fully necessary, in my opinion. On the other hand, if you have an interview to be an IT network admin, then yes, suite and tie all the way. Have fun, it was a nice experience with NO stress when I worked at the local course
  4. 2007 dodge nitro r/t Nice small suv, basically identical to a jeep liberty
  5. I'm starting to look at the casual, new style cleats to replace my 3 year old cheapo Footjoy's. I have narrowed it down to 3 choices: Ecco BIOM Hybrid $190, Adidas Adicross II $90, or the FJ Contour Casuals $100. It's just time to switch the type of shoe to see how I enjoy it. It's really 50/50% whether I walk or ride. Has anyone had any experience with these? One thing I am concerned about is the life of the cleats. I will not be using them as a all-around shoe, but will be wearing them to the course and whatnot instead of changing when I get there; like I did with my FJ's. I really like the looks of the Ecco's but can't justify spending that extra $100 over the adidas when it can be better spent elsewhere; like on a new wedge
  6. I will test out a sleeve of the e6, q star, and dt solo. hopefully one of those work great for me. As far as lowering swing speed, when I bought my burner 2.0s, I got fitted in a short amount if time. Basically just for feel and whether it not I was regular or stiff. We didn't go into all diff shafts. Anyways, irons are appx 96 mph and driver 108. Bad idea to have steel-stiff?
  7. This thread makes me nervous.. I've always used callaway hawk eye vft irons in regular graphite. (age 16 to like 24) Now I swing about 95mph using burner 2.0 s & im on steel shafts. Was this a bad choice?
  8. This past season I played with whatever 3-packs I had laying around the house. (Tommy Armour Torch, Top Flight XL2000, ect..) I'm looking to work on my game and stick with 1 for the time being. I shoot anywhere from a 95 to a 104 usually, and see a lot of shots slicing or pushing right-Especially off the tee. I have been looking at the Titleist DT Solo, or even the Velocity, and the Srixon Q-Star. I have played with the Srixons but don't quite remember the performance. Because my game is a bit inconsistent, and due to time, I don't have the time to test each type of ball out for X amount of time. How are these balls in terms of feel around the green, and the spin? Obviously, I wouldn't want something that will a slice even worse. Current swing speed with a driver is 110 I believe, and with irons, 95'ish (if I remember correctly)
  9. Good afternoon, I have been golfing for a few years now, and haven't got all that much time into practicing and improving my game as much as i'd like. Currently I am very inconsistent. One 18 I will shoot a 102, then the next I will shoot a 96. I have been using a 'fake' $30 Japanese Odyssey white hot 2 ball putter which I dislike very much. It would be decent if the weighting wasn't so off, & had some weight to it. It's very light. To be honest, I really don't know if I should do blade, Mallet, or something inbetween. Seems like my putters now either go too far, or too short. This all comes down to practice. I've been looking at the TM Ghosts, & Odyssey putters. I like the look to the TM Ghost DA-12, and looks be fairly heavy for a blade. On the other hand, the TM Ghost Tour FO-72 looks to be the balance between blade/mallet. What's the big difference between the 'L-neck' and 'single-bend' shafts? Obviously I will head to a Golf Galaxy or Dick's to do the little testing I can, but what are your thoughts on those putters, and even the ghost series in comparison with a like model by Odyssey? Any other thoughts?
