  1. So in my first rounds of the season I've noticed several ugly things. One being I'm not taking divots on my approach shots. I'll take relativley small ones on anything inside of 100 but other than that everything feels so thin. I feel as if I'm keep my head still and staying down but occasionaly I'll hit it thin. The obvious conclusion is that I'm striking the ball piss poor and its killing me out there. I'm sinking fast and my confidence is dwendling early on. I've set high expectations for myself this year and I'm aiming at consistantly being able to break 80. I've done it once and now I find myself back in the 90's early on. I've played a good 5 rounds now and have shot an 87 at best so far yet a friend of mine comes out his first round of the year and fires a 79. He's usually in the 70's but for a first round? Ahhhh why can't I be there yet? Haha. I guess I need drills and ideas for keying in on striking it well with the irons or your thoughts on everything I've said. I May need to come up with a practice regimine as I am very serious in improvement for this year and wilk have time everyday to put some work in.
  2. So recently I learned of a lag putting drill Phil Mickleson came up with/practiced and I thought I'd put it to the test. The drill was to putt 5 out of 5 balls at the lagging distance (20-35ft) to within 3 feet of the hole. That imaginary three feet circle would be awesome if I didn't have to imagine it so I was wondering if they make some sort of ring that's thin and flat enough to lay around the hole? If you can imagine something like a muffle ring that some drummers use on their snare drums but a larger circumference. Idk if anyone knows if these exisist or if you guys even know what I have I my head. I'll try and find a picture of the drum ring I mentiond because that's exactly what I'm thinking of but just larger!! Feel free to recommend any other putting tools you like!
  3. So I'm sure your all working off the spring rust, especially if your like me and your in the midwest. When I was at my peak in my short golf career I was shaping my shot from a gentle cut off the tee to a suddle draw on both my driver and irons. For the first few rounds I'm playing my current shot shape just so I can navigate the course through a round. Being that our driving range doesn't open for another month, what can I do on the course to get that suddle draw back off the tee and for my irons? What swing thoughts should I be thinking to promote that draw insted of a weak cut. I find I have more distance eith a draw than a cut so I would like to go back to staring down those shots insted of watching my ugly cut/slice.
  4. how do you go about getting fitted for your irons? I live in a small town with only a couple holf shops and I'm not sure they do club fitting
  5. Ahhh you got me there haha. I saw those in golf digest and didn't like the looks and have never had interest in callaway irons. I may have to test them out though
  6. So I typically shoot in the 80s and have broken 80 once before. After taking a solid break from golf after my senior year of high school, I've decided to ditch the Nike Ignites that somehow carries be through those years and pick up some new clubs. I've been doing a little research and the Mizuno JPX 825 Pros have sparked my interest and after reading golf digests equipment issue so have Taylormades rocketbladez. My price range is up to 800. Let me know what you think about the JPX and rocketbladez. Then recommend what you think will fit my game and what else out there is in My price range please! I'm really just wanting a set of irons that will last me a while so I don't feel like I have to constantly upgrade to something else. Thanks guys
