  1. Hello everyone, I decided on Taylormade Burner hybrid, but I am not sure which loft to get, 19 or 22 deg. I currently play a 18 deg 5-wood, which I really like from the tee and fairway, but not from the rough. I have heard that distance-wise, a 4-hybrid typically replaces a 3-iron. My 3-iron is 20 deg, 4-iron is 23 deg, and I don't hit either one very well. I am getting a hybrid mostly for shots out of the rough. Opinions? Thanks.
  2. It makes sense to me that steel would be a good choice for hybrids, since they are likely replacing steel irons. How has the steel worked for those of you who have used it in their hybrids? Does the iron feel help hit the hybrids out of the rough?
  3. Hello everyone. I have been finding deals on the Taylormade Rescue Mid and the Nike CPR hybrids. It looks like both of them are a few years old, and have been replaced by newer models, but they should be fine to replace my 3-iron. Is anyone playing a Nike CPR?
  4. For those of you playing with the Rescue mid, are you playing it in graphite of steel? I would think that since I want it to play like an iron out of the rough, I should get it in steel, but it seems like they are much easier to find in graphite.
  5. Hello everyone. My Cleveland wedge says that due to the special cmm metal used in the wedge, all loft modifications need to be made by Cleveland. Is this really true? Do I need to send my wedge into Cleveland to bend it one degree up?
  6. Hello everyone. I currently have a 45 deg pw, a 54 deg sw, and a 60 deg lw. I am considering adding a 50 deg gw. Is it worth it to bend my sw so I have a 5 deg gap between all of my wedges?
  7. Hello everyone, I currently play with Callaway Big Bertha 2006 irons, which have a 20 deg 3-iron and a 23 degree 4-iron. I also play with a 18 deg 5-wood that I really like from the tee and fairway. I am looking at replacing the 3-iron with a hybrid for shots out of the rough. I am leaning towards the Taylormade hybrids with a steel shaft, since I am using it like an iron. It looks like the Taylormade hybrids have lofts of 19 and 22 degrees, and I am wondering which I should get to replace my 3-iron. Is it better to go with a slightly higher loft based on the general performance of hybrids and the fact that it is primarily a club from the rough for me. Also, I heard somewhere that you should buy a hybrid that matches your current iron set, which for me, would be the Callaway Heavenwood. Is this true?
  8. I am looking at adding one of these hybrids. How do they perform from the rough?
  9. If anyone is using these, I am curious how they perform from the rough.
  10. Hello everyone. I am looking at replacing my 3-iron with a hybrid for shots from the rough. Is it better to have graphite or steel? I would think that steel would be better for rough shots due to the increased weight, but I have also heard that some hybrids are designed with graphite in mind and that steel is simply a cost-saving alternative. Any opinions?
  11. Hello everyone I am looking to replace my 3 iron, which I never use, with a 3 hybrid that I basically can use as a tomahawk to get me out of the rough. I probably will never use it on the tee, and rarely from the fairway. I am looking for something heavy, compact, and easy to hit. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard that the Cobra Baffler and Taylormade Burner are pretty good for this function.
  12. I would highly recommend the HiBore XL. I am a beginner, and it did wonders for me. Plus, since the HiBore XLS came out, you can find it at a great price.
  13. I bought my two fairway woods at Rockbottomgolf.com for around $162 total (good price + a 10% off internet deal), and I think they are fantastic for beginners. They are Adams Insight BUL, from the 2007 Golf Digest Hot List. I find that I am using them for shots as close as 140-150 yards, simply because they are easy to hit. I would definitely recommend them.
  14. Hello everyone, I have been told that if you are playing wedges with a lower bounce, you can add a little bounce by opening up the face. Are there any other adjustments necessary to do this, or is it just the little adjustment to the club face position?
  15. Hello everyone, I recently bought a used set of irons off ebay and the seller had them re-gripped with brand new Callaway full cord grips. I have played these a few times, and they are tearing the skin off of my hands. Is this just a "breaking in" issue, or should I look into getting them re-gripped? Does anyone have any suggestions of grips that are a little softer that will not wear down after 1 year, preferably the kind that will not cost me an arm and a leg? Thanks.
