  2. Just an update... i bought the Aldila Rip'd NV, put it in and i must say i was very pleased with the outcome. Its like a whole new club, the ball flight was ideal (for me) and it added roughly 10-15 more yds not to mention it was a bit straighter. May not suit everybody, but I'm liking it.
  3. I'm working on trying to practice slowing down and stopping when on the range, my problem is i like to play to darn much to incorporate a swing change. It really wouldn't hurt to give up some distance as i am fairly long off the tee. thanks for the reply.
  4. I've been playing for about 5 years now & I've had multiple lessons. To this day I'm subject to go out and shoot between even and +5... I'm also subject to shoot 90-100. My putting is always above average chipping & pitching fairly consistent, and my mid to short irons aren't bad... Driver, woods, & long irons are either ON or OFF! My backswing is too fast & b/c of this my elbow and wrist collapse @ the top (to the point where I'm worse than John daly) all this causes inconsistent misses, sometimes right, some left, and some straight. The 90+ scores come from penalty shots off the tee shot & the 70-80 scores come maybe 1-2 times out of 10 when my timing is on. I'd like to have some tips or drills to slow backswing down & stop at parallel.
  5. I have this same problem from time to time. a month ago i was hitting 65% of fairways. Now I'm down to 48% and the miss is right with the occasional hook because of trying to correct with wrist. After much frustration and time on the range i discovered i had inched closer to the ball during set up, so i took a small step away from the ball and drilled it. You could try it and see what happens. I'm playing my first round today after this new discovery, so ill see how it goes. Hope this, or some other tip helps. Good luck.
  6. No doubt there are some operator issues, it's not like I'm hitting it crazy high, just higher than I'd like... Still carrying 280 just would like a more piercing flight. Thanks though
  7. I'm playing a rocketballz driver set at 8*. My swing speed is 110-115mph, which is borderline stiff/xstiff. Currently it has the stock matrix ozik stiff shaft in and my launch angle is too high. I went to GG to get fitted for a shaft and i must say that experience was terrible, they were absolutely NO help, seemed as though they just wanted to sell a new driver. I'd like to hear some of your thoughts on shafts. I'm leaning towards the Aldila Rip'd NV 65g S flex. all thoughts are welcomed. Thanks
  8. I agree.... Just hit balls all that you can. Even if all you can do is hit into a net in the back yard. Dont try to hit the 300yd drive, just do whatever it takes to get the ball in the fairway as much as possible. 200yds in fairway is better than 280yds in, or behind junk. Most importantly I suggest working on the short game. I can't tell you how many of my beginner friends dont chip, pitch, and putt; and ive seen many of them get within 10 yds of green and add 4 or more strokes to their score. The game is an addiction and depending on the time you put in, will greatly affect your results.
