Hi,
As this is the Welcome thread, I'll first introduce myself, I'm 32 years old, from the Netherlands. Started playing golf 9 months ago, but have really put it up a gear this year by joining a club and started playing more and more, especially with the weather improving over here these last weeks.
Instantly fell in love with the game, and I have no idea why I didn't start playing sooner. It's especially amazing how golf is such a mental thing. After several rounds of 56-60 over 9 holes and just not improving (even though I did improve on the driving range), out of nowhere I shot a 47 earlier this week. No idea how this happened, suddenly balls started going in the direction I wanted them too. Awesome feeling! Considering I still have no idea how to use the driver, and my woods are very shaky at best, I still feel I can improve more if wouldn't be forced to only use irons. I take lessons from a pro about once every month, so I'm sure we'll get to that.
Anyway, important reason I joined is I would like to ask a question to all of the US members: Me and my girlfriend will do a 3 month roadtrip all through the USA this summer. We have a broad idea on where we want to go (we'll likely, very very very roughly, drive from NY to Chicago to Seattle to LA to Houston, back to NY) and plan to play about 1 course every week as well. After my recent success, we both have handicaps in the low thirties now, so obviously we are not looking for extremely difficult, expensive or prestigious courses; we'll save that for later.
Anyway, obviously I don't quite know where to look for the best courses myself. Any advice you might have with regards to easy accessible courses that really have that special quality and which you would particularly recommend in your area, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!
