  1. Stock shafts for drivers and 3woods are not to be knocked. It is possible to be lucky to find such a shaft that happens to suit the user. The real trouble starts when using stock shafts in your irons. Because these are mass produced to generous tolerances there's just no consistency between one and another. In effect, your set will very likely contain a mixture of regular, stiff, X-stiff and/or senior flex shafts. Furthermore, these shafts will differ in their weight, torc and kickpoint characterists. However, be aware that shaft variances can also occur in Custom shafts. Therefore it is imperative to not only be fitted by a Master Club Fitter, but to get even Custom bought shafts double - checked by the Fitter when they come in.
