  2. Thanks again for the input guys? Although I do not get the expected result when practicing at home I can always tell during a round after I have been practicing a lot so I guess i should stop thinking about it so much!
  3. Thank you for the pointers I was swaying back on the backswing and dipping down at the ball. We addressed this at my last lesson and it worked amazing at the lesson and at the next round I played but I haven't gotten to play in a while so I'm uncertain and afraid I'm going back to bad habits and I think it's mostly due to the fact I am way to concerned about distance even when I'm trying not to be. So when I hit out of the tall grass even with good contact it isn't going very far and that's when I start swaying and dipping because I guess subconsciously I feel like it will add distance when we all know it will not! Thanks for the reassurance! What type of net do you have? Aren't most nets just for chipping or can you hit full iron shots into some of them? Thanks again!
  4. I have been playing for about a year and a half and with the help of lessons have come a long way but I'm a little unsure how to get the most out of practicing at home. I have three young boys so I can not get to the driving range as much as I'd like so I try to do what I can at home. I have heard that hitting off of a mat ( which I have at home) doesn't help that much because if you have a tendency to hit irons fat or thin it is more forgiving (I am guilty of both from time to time. So I tried to hit foam balls out of the grass-this does not seem like it will work as when you compress the ball as you should it gets hung up trying to find its way out of my taller grass. So I was hitting shag balls and my seven looks to only be going around 100 yards I'm guessing because of the taller grass. So do you think I would be better off just hitting off of the mat and trying to watch where I contact the mat? Or any other thoughts on useful practice at home? Or maybe just chipping from a spot of short grass and hoping the form transfers to my full swing? Thanks in advance for any input!!!
  5. I would defitely say I am councious of it but over the course of a couple of months t gradually transforms to crap? Do you guys put any space between the pointer and middle fingers of your right hand or let them fall naturally?
  6. I have been playing for about six months now and I am nowhere near good but leaps and bounds from where I started. I have taken a few lessons that have helped alot but feel like my grip is lacking. I think I lost sight of it while working on alot of other things and the other day at the driving range started to develop blister on the pad of my thumb and bottom knuckle of my pointer finger of my right hand (I am right handed) which I would think would mean I am doing way to much with my right hand.? (Squeezing and pushing) would you agree? Do you concentrat on your grip with every approach? Also I watched a video where It advised to put a fingers width between your middle and pointer finger so I have and was not instructed to do otherwise by my coach but after thinking about it it feels like I am setting myself up to do too much with my right hand with the gap. What do you think/do?
  7. I have been playing about four months. I have been fighting a slice with my driver and today I drove the ball straight ten out of ten times I tried! It felt amazing but my irons were aweful! I was hitting the ground behind the ball on everything. What I changed- I was way out on my toes and changed to a more evenly distributed stance between balls and heels and made sure to stay coiled usong more of a shoulder turn than doing everything with my arms. Do you think that the weight change from toes to balanced between heels and balls could have caused my poor iron play or was it something else? Should I distribute weight differently with irons vs driver? Ps I often play where my woods r ok and irons are horrible or decent irons and horrible woods so it could have just been one of those days!
  8. I would really like to be able to hot a driver someday in your opinion if I do get a deep 3 for now and really work on hitting it consistently am I taking steps towards being able to hit a driver or am I just avoiding the inevitable? Also what is the difference between a deep 3 and a 3 wood? Sorry for thr rookie questions I hope your eyes dont roll completely out of your head ;)
  9. I love hitting my 3 h out of the tee box! I have been starting with my driver and usually give up on it by the third hole move to the three wood and give up on it by ten but like to keep trying!
  10. Thanks for the input guys I plan on hitting all that I can but like to have others opinions first! Keep em coming!
  11. I bought a used ping rapture and for whatever reason it had a nike sq dymo shaft on it and I ended up snapping the head off of it. I went back to the cheap freebie ram fx gold. It is probably an inch shorter and now that ive figured out my swing a little more the shorter shaft is much more comfortable and easier to control so I will definitely be looking for something shorter! Do most companies offer different shaft lengths or is it just what it is? Also if I go with an adams would it be worth having it trimmed in your opinion or should I shop for something with the shaft length I want?
  12. I have been playing about four months and am severely addicted to the game! I recently bought a used set of adams irons/hybrids from a pawn shop for next to nothing and love them! I also bought a metal x putter the same day and love it too. I am currently taking lessons and improving every day. My next investment will be a 3 wood and driver as the cheapies I have are to light of flex for me. I think I will be ok for a while as I have intentionally slowed my swing down but will need a stiff flex when I begin to turn things up again. I want to do it the right way and hit everything possible and was curious where to start? Is there such a thing as a game improvement driver? I know you hear alot about game improvement irons but not so much with woods is that just a difference in marketing strategy? I plan on hitting a few this weekend and was curiojs where you thought I should start? I dont have a huge budget so the adams speedline super s and taylormade rbz look good but thats just going off of price and looks. Are there any features in particular I should be looking for? Thanks in advance!
  13. I measured my swing speed at dicks and it was low to mid 90s and I was slowing it down intentionally as I am a beginner working on mechanics. I have an acuity lob wedge woth a regular flex graphite shaft. Multiple people have told me I need stiff flex shafts and didnt know if it would be an issue with the way I use it. I typically only use it for chipping and would say I only use it when im within fourty yards and rarely if ever make a full swing with it. Do you see the regular flex graphite shaft causing A problem? I would say I play it fairly well.? Thanks!
  14. Thank you. I think the drills are going to be extremely helpful. I was just looking for one thing to concentrate and work on between lessons and I have that. Thank you all!
