I like it. I don't feel like I excute my shots well enough to really be able to take advantage of the principals in the book, yet.

Ok so I do just try to put into it.

I was able to go out twice today and played some of the best golf I've ever played. The first round I was feeling it then of course I had to pull out my driver and be cute on the forth hole. I hooked the ball into the woods and had to take a penalty, I knew before that it was a bad idea and that probably didn't help. The rest of the match I could feel the shoulder I pulled from the other week and it made me not strike the ball as well as I could've. Overall I had fun and started from the hole back to the tee when selecting clubs. My short game was not on that round however. The second round was also a good round and my short game felt really good except for a few 3 putts and one double bunker shot. I hit a lot of sand, 5-6, that round but was still able to pull off a few pars. I don't really have any excuses for my second round I did however play the best 18 holes ever. Let me know what you guys think and also let me know if I should write a fuller analysis I always end up writing these things late at night and don't go into much detail. Round 1: 47 https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5873254/5661937 Round 2: 99 https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5897424/5661937 I like the avatar lol

I got these from my grandfather a while back when he first got me into golf. What are they and how am I suppose to use them?

Just played a round today. I never did get any putting practice in over the week. I plan on doing that this week since I'm done with some exams for a little while. This last round I played with my girlfriend and it was a little more stressful then usual lol so I wasn't really taking my time on each shot. Putting was still pretty bad along with my iron distances. I never had my driver this game either I sliced most shots. 10/12/13 115: https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5841146/5661937

Lol it is pretty funny I would've been laughing my ass off too. I've never seen that before.
-
Lol thanks for the input. I agree with you

Those are just estimates give or take .01 yard. I generally don't track my divots 200 yards and out but when I do it's blocking my ball from going in the cup.
-
So you are saying just swing nice and easy to make sure the fundamentals are right? If so that is what I was doing at bloomingdale and I completely agree with you.

Ya putting that day was difficult I kept on missing really close putts and could not read the green. Of course that's what I didn't practice before heading out. I will say however even when I was landing on the green I was giving myself difficult putts because I would be 30 feet away on a green I can barely judge the distance on. Anyways it was a fun day. I went to the range with my good friend and his father, who's a 7-8 handicap, he changed my swing to make me drive through and down at the ball. It's going to take me a couple of weeks to get that down. I have the tendency to rotate my hips before impact and lift my head making me hit the ground before the ball. When I had the technique down for a few shots it felt as if I had a lot more control since I wasn't rotating my body nearly as much as in my normal swing. The chipping green at my driving range is pretty pathetic so it makes it hard to work on that aspect of my game. Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting to the range and the course whenever I can fit it in this week.

It doesn't seem like you had enough gap and spread when you were hitting your irons long. Right now I generally hit my irons like this: Sw: 45 Gap: 47 Pw: 51 9: 150 8: 152.243 7: 154 6: 220 5: 230 4: 233 D: 340 carry with 6.344444441 roll You should try to emulate those distances. The trick I've found is to try as hard as you can to hit the ball by creating a huge divot a 5 inches behind the ball. You basically let Mother Earth take ahold of the ball and violently throw it. You should see your numbers melt away.

I went out golfing twice this week. I was taking my swinging really easy along with allowing myself to mess up because before I had to much expectations that I would hit every ball perfect. I took your guys advice and started to pitch and roll/chip putt when im 40-80 yards out when its possible, I must say it has been working out. I am liking the progress I can tell if I tighten up my game and keep on practicing I will be playing much better, I am still waiting for my book to arrive so I can start to read it. Anyways these are the 2 rounds I played this week. 10/02/13: 52 https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5750115/5661937 I can't say there was anything memorable this course. 10/05/13: 108 https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5784349/5661937 This is a very tough course so I am glad I did this well.

I played a few holes the other day and shot a 57 on the front nine. I was listening to what you guys said but about hole 5 I wanted to rip one and of course that's when things really went downhill. The past two days though I have been going back to the basics and working on the proper swing and chipping technique along with putting. I keep on just wanting to rip everything and hit the perfect shots so it's hard for me to play a game where I plan to hit the green in 3 shots on par fours and aim for bogeys. https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5703914/5661937

Ya, have to change my approach to playing. I have always tried to play like the pros on tv and not what I am comfortable with
-
Thanks for the input guys. I bought the breaking 90 book and just looking at the preview and listening to what you guys are saying makes a lot of sense.

I defiantly agree with you that is something I have been debating. I don't have much time right now to practice for very long when I go to the range so I try to pick just one thing really lacking. Right now it seems to be hitting shots off the tee and long shots to the green. Should I instead just try to spend 65%/30%/15% on full swing, short game and putting every time I go?
-
You are reading that right I do hit most of my shots right. Right now it seems to be every club I have I hit to the right

This week I played two rounds couldn't get in a full 18 holes either time I played. I went to the range with weekend after getting my mizuno Jpx 800's. I have not gotten used to the clubs yet and so far with them I have been slicing everything from a 7 iron up. They add a lot of distance but its nothing without accuracy. I worked on putting a lot this week when I went to the range and it has really helped me improve. I am striking the ball better and I am able to visualize the ball before I hit it. Here are my rounds for this week. Round 3: The Claw 9/19/13 - https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5616134/5661937 Round 4: Bloomingdale 9/21/13 - I don't have a score for this round because my phone died and we left the score card on the cart. Overall I didn't play well and sliced almost every club I used. Everything connected for me on one hole were I made par with a beautiful. Next week I am planning on going to the range a few times and just going to work on my full swing and getting better contact with the ball.
-
Thank you I'll try to update this as much as I can. I went to the range today to meet up with a friend. I worked on my full swing and practiced putting for 2 hours. I started to really focus on the greens and walked my put before I hit it. That really seemed to help a lot and I'll have to do this next time I am out.

I am not sure where I should post a journal in the forum but this seemed like the best place. My goal for 2013 is to shooting at least a 92 and lower my average scores to mid to high 90's. Let me know what you guys think, constructive criticism is welcome as well. I went out by myself today since my playing partners were out of the state. I could only play the first nine because I was rained out but these are my two most recent games I was playing two balls at once so the path that it shows that I took is a little odd. For the most part I was hitting my irons and driver well. I started to slice and hook my driver when it started to rain and I had people right behind me. All around I can work on everything but when you start to shank hits when you are playing by yourself it's harder to shake it off. My short game was average as well I three putted one or two holes but over all I am happy with my short game. Here are the links to the two scores. I hit the same score for both balls on the front nine. 9/14/13 @ The Claw, Ball 1: Score 58 https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5563344/5661937 9/14/13 @ The Claw, Ball 2: Score 58 https://www.swingbyswing.com/myrounds/viewroundtrack/5565589/5661937

I'm just starting to really get into golf after playing casually since I was 15. I know a few people around me that play semi regularly, from growing up in the area, but they don't play as often as I want and those that do just cheat and really annoy me. Is there a website or a club that I could join? I want to play every weekend if possible.

Thanks guys, I'll have to check out the site more.

Hi, I am from the Tampa Bay Area, I started playing and taking lessons when my grandfather got me into the game at 8-9. Now I'm 24 and working as an accountant and finishing up my major. I played casually ever since I started. Now that I can afford it I am started to be come dedicated to golf. My goal by the end of the year is to shoot a 92, I now shoot about a 110. I think it's doable if I can at least limit my penalty strokes and hit greens. Anyways look forward to meeting you all.
