  1. I am getting conflicting answers.....some people say the AP1 is more of a club you can "grow into" and some say the MX-200 is??? What determines this? The MX200 has a smaller topline (7.1 to 8.4), but the AP1 has a smaller sole (22.3 to 25). The MX200 is also a little smaller heel to toe (88.4 to 91). I would say the smaller topline AND the smaller overall clubhead size would make the MX-200 more of a "players club". Am I wrong?
  2. So you are saying the AP1's can be better used by a "more skilled" golfer moreso than the MX-200s?
  3. Of course that's what I would do! Does the MP-60 ever penalize you on miss hits? I would guess they are a little less forgiving than the MP52s.
  4. How did you figure out how much to do? Did u just space out the loft numbers or did you check your actual distances on the launch monitor or driving range?
  5. Care to elaborate why?
  6. I noticed you are playing a split set. Do you have any problems going from 6 to 7 iron, since the MX-900 loft is stronger than the MP's? I would imagine you could hit your 6 iron almost as long as your 7 iron? I was considering a MP52 for 5,6 & MX-200 for 7-PW.
  7. OK, I am down to these iron sets. If anyone has any experience with these, please chime in. I am a +18 handicap, my ss with irons is 75mph. I tend to be a sweeper and take a small divot, but often pick the ball fairly clean. My misses tend to be fat or thin, but more fat. I want a club that I won't outgrow once my ballstriking improves. I use a 3,4 hybrid, so I will just be ordering the 5-PW. 1) Mizuno MX-200 2) Adams A4 Tech 3) Titleist AP1 4) Nike VR Full Cavity I used to play Ping G10's, but desired a little more "feel" in my irons.
  8. I really like the swingspeed. (see www.swingspeed.com ) I really works the swing muscles and the core also. I have one and it put +10 mph on my swing speed in less than 2 weeks. I know where you can get a new one for half price. Send me a message and I'll point you in the right direction.
  9. As seen in my last video... I definitely don't get nearly enough wrist cock at the top of the backswing. Is there anything I can do other than grip loosely in my fingers? I feel like my wrists are as flexible as most people, but I am not sure why I can't get sufficient wrist hinge in my swing? Is there anything I can do? Drills? Am I stuck with this flaw?
  10. How do I get MORE wrist cock?
  11. sorry, I can't get the youtube links to work. You can access the videos here: http://www.swingacademy.com/swingana...l.aspx?id=2112 http://www.swingacademy.com/swingana...l.aspx?id=2113 http://www.swingacademy.com/swingana...l.aspx?id=2114 What I myself noticed..... I am not getting enough wrist cock on the backswing and I am not sure why or how to fix it. My grip is fine. I grip it in the fingers, not the palms. I have been working at not taking the club to quickly inside and I also noticed the club is pointing too steeply down towards my feet at the top of my backswing and then my donswing plane seems "above" my backswing plane and I think it's better to be the other way around.
  12. Appreciate any help. Thanks!
  13. Not using the hips enough is probably the #1 swing flaw in amateurs and one that is often overlooked. If you check the Pros...their hips are almost facing the target BEFORE impact. One tip is to start the downswing by pushing your left foot into the ground. This will "trigger" your hips. Then, let the club "fall" on it's own before turning on the juice. You can also think about bringing your right elbow to your right hip....skipping a rock...etc. whatever works. I think "left foot/ground, drop and extend through impact".
  14. On a related note....I used my new Winn Xi7 grips for the first time Sat in the cold and they were great! I didn't feel one sting in the hands. Soft but firm at the same time. Great grips!
  15. Is that Under Amour Cold Gear similiar to long/thermal underwear?
  16. Wondering what everyone's "cutoff" point is? I think mine is around 40 degrees. As long as it's sunny and not windy, 40 or so isn't bad at all. I played this past Sat and it was 35 when we started and warmed up to 45 near the end. I used my winter gloves for the first 5 holes and then switched to my normal glove. I layered it up and was never really uncomfortable. I think I could probably go a little lower
  17. Heating the old tape makes removal easy. I have a tiny space heater and just held it on front of the heater for 1 minute. A hair dryer works too. I never once needed to do any scraping. Spiraled tape comes off easier, but the vertical 2" tape comes off easy too after being heated a bit. You are right...getting the old tape off is the hardest part of the whole process. I was a little sad whan I was done, because I was just getting the process perfected :)
  18. OK, I regripped 3 of my irons last night for the 1st time ever. I was removing Tour Velvets and putting on Winn Xi7's. My 1st try was comical and everything fell apart. I didn't make the vise tight enough and didn't use enough solvent, so when I started to push on the grip, I knocked the shaft in the air, it fell off the vice...solvent everwhere...etc. I tried to get everything situated quickly and got the shaft back in the vice and pushed the grip on. It was very hard to get on and I got a lot of sticky liquid pushing down the shaft. The second try went A LOT smoother. I used a LOT of solvent and made sure the shaft was tight in the vice. I also put the shaft in with the club face pointing straight up, so if I put the grip on centered, it needed no further adjustment. This time the club slid on A LOT smoother. I guess due to more solvent and less "screwing around". Also, I am using odorless mineral spirits as my solvent. Some observations....... -The hook blade removed the old grip easy enough and the old spiral wrap tape peeled right off the shaft without any scraping needed. -The rubber vice clamp is a bit of a pain, since it is loose and stays on the shaft. I am thinking of using some double stick tape and permanantly attaching the rubber to the vice, so when I am done, I just open the vice and pull out the shaft. -You really need to SOAK THE HECK out of the grip tape before attempting to slide on the grip. I don't know if Winn grips are tighter than most, but my second try went A LOT smoother due to much more solvent. -Have a lot of rags handy to wipe of the sticky reside that pushes down the shaft as you slide on the grip...also some will spill out the little hole on top. -The solvent is tough to clean off your hands...next time I will try wearing some rubber gloves. Question....Is it possible to damage your shaft my tightening the vice too tight? I was afraid of making the vice too tight, but if you don't, it can slip when you push.
  19. Are they "tacky" enough? I felt these at the store and all the Winn grips felt "slicker" than the other brands to me. It's hard to tell until you hit with them, but do you think these will twist on me? Are they as tacky as tour wraps?
  20. Please help me to pick out a grip. Here's my criteria: I like a tacky grip because I get some twisting on the downswing sometimes. I don't like too rough feeling of a grip (like some cords) I don't like too soft of a grip (like most tour wraps) I don't like a grip that gets slick too quickly after it wears a little I tried the Tour Velvets and they are OK...but I still get some twisting now and then I tried the Golf Pride Corded Wrap and it feels too rough and a little too slick I tried the Golf Pride Tour Wraps and those are good (nice and tacky) but a little too soft I was thinking of possibly the GP New Decade Multi Compound or the Lamkin Crosslines or Winn PCI Hybrid Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  21. Was wondering what everyone does or what is the best accepted method. When you address the ball, do you rest the club on the ground before starting back or do you "hover" the club slightly off the ground and then start back? I have always grounded the club, but wonder if that is causes my slight lift of the arms as I start my takeaway. My instructor suggesting hovering the club slightly above the ground just before takeaway to get rid of the "lifting" motion and it seems to work. Only thing is when you "hover" the club, you have to watch that you still have the correct "arm hang" and psoture at address. Thoughts?
  22. No good. I want to hit at night and my neighbors won't appreciate loud pops!
  23. Unfortunately I already bought this one. I guess it's worth a shot though. I can always resell it on Ebay. Any shaft recommendations over the 360?
  24. I think your on to something here.... So what do I do now? Do I try and use a lot more wrist action through impact? Try and turn the hips faster/harder? Play the ball more forward? Stay behind the ball more?
