  1. My X-20's are 1 week old tomorrow after special ordering a set. I love them....I did try out the fol and found them all pretty close to being the same: Ping G10 Titleist AP1 TM Tour Burner Also tried some mizuno's but chickened out...they were close but the G10s and AP1s were close runner-ups.
  2. thanks for your kind words, and I love my new X-20's (picked them up on Fri)
  3. I work for a living....black shoe, and not a TAR! Water wings on my uniform (and a sheriff's badge - just on the wrong side right now)
  4. From my signature, you see what won for me... I tried TM, Titleist AP1's, Ping G10s, and the X20s. All were fine....it comes down to personal preference. I have never been a Ping guy, and frankly was surprised that I did not pickup the AP1's as I've been playing DCI's for 10 years. I liked the X-20's and a good friend of mine recently picked some up and he's a single digit handicap, so I figure if I ever get time, they'll work for me as I improve. I hit my new set this weekend and it was yum, yum, yummy Take demo's - i couldn't get a full set but a partial set was fine and i hit stuff from all kinds of lies and did multiple fittings w/ multiple stores..... New clubs are fun....enjoy!
  5. New member living in Northern Virginia (temporarily) while assigned to the Pentagon....navy life has my handicap all over the map...no worries This site has been helpful as I used it to research my recent purchase of new irons. Some folks list their tours in the military....for me its the past memberships/home courses.... Current Home course: Ft Belvoir - although starting to play Forest Greens in Quantico more often Hometown course: Petoskey BVCC, Petoskey, MI (love #6) Past home courses: USNA GC, Annapolis, MD Great opening hole, great everything Green Valley CC, Portsmouth, RI #10 is a favorite Sewells Pt and Sleepy Hole - Tidewater area, VA. Sleepy is the best...esp. #18 Bayonnet Blackhorse; Poppy Hills; Spanish Bay - Monterey, CA. fantasy land...3 memberships Green Valley CC, Portsmouth, RI Sea N Air; Cornado GC - Coronado, CA Glen Eagle GC - Millington, TN Northshore CC - Portland, TX
  6. Welcome...great resource...just joining and originally from Michigan. Go Tigers. Head to Northern Michigan for sweet golf (my home courses)....Little Traverse Bay area...will be heading back home and picking up Angelo's enroute. regret no time to swing by King Par (good golf store)
  7. I'd say it is worth the investment...I just picked-up a new set of irons after playing w/ the same set of Titlest DCI's for 11 years. I love my new set - picked Callaway X-20 over Ping, Titleist, TM just on Friday. Very happy.
  8. made the plunge....X-20's ordered and enroute. just liked them better after test driving them all....but in the end, every club i tried (ap1, x20, g10) was better than the current set...i think in this realm, it is personal preference (that's a duh comment) as on paper they're all good, all close. what did it for me - 'just felt better than the other' - tough to measure. thanks again for a great thread OBTW....love the new 3H over 3I (bought Cway X series)
  9. Thanks....I noticed not many 3 irons in your bags....I've been using a 2H in lieu of 5W - hate my 5W - and still unsure if i'll go 3H or 3I. Probably better to go w/ the 3H but still semi-confident hitting a 3I. I know I'll get 4-AW...just need to figure out 3H or 3I....these decisions are nice to have
  10. Thanks for this great thread....I like both the Callaway X-20 and the Titleist AP1's...replacing my Titleist DCI Oversize of 10+ years....still trying to decide and do all my research and demo'ing....ahh to have such a tough choice!
